An off-duty FBI agent allegedly accidentally shot a man in the leg early Saturday after the agent’s gun fell from his holster on the dance floor of Mile High Spirits, according to a Denver police news release.
“The victim was transported to the hospital with a good prognosis,” the news release read.
The name of the agent wasn’t released because he hasn’t been charged, said Marika Putnam, a Denver police spokeswoman.
The man who was shot remains in the hospital Saturday afternoon.
“He appears to have non-life threatening injuries,” Putnam said.
Video of the incident obtained by Denver7 shows a man alleged to be the FBI agent dancing while surrounded by onlookers and then executing a backflip. During the flip, the gun appears to fly out of the man’s holster. The man in the video jumps to pick up the firearm and appears to fire the gun in the process. The man puts the gun back away in the back of his pants and holds up his hands as onlookers appear shocked and scared.
“When the agent retrieved his handgun, an unintended discharge occurred,” the release read.
The agent was taken to Denver police headquarters and was released to an FBI supervisor. The incident is being investigated by the Denver police homicide unit. Charges will be determined by the Denver district attorney’s office.

IF he was off duty, wtf was he doing in a bar, let alone on the dance floor with a gun?

Two things stand out here....
"...then executing a backflip..." - Because that's just funny and strange. And don't they use retention holsters?
"The man in the video jumps to pick up the firearm and appears to fire the gun in the process" - because it sounds like it wasn't a drop-fire incident. The agent accidentally fired the gun. Apparently they don't teach how to pick up a gun without pulling the trigger at Quantico.

If one is required to be armed off duty, one should take greater care to avoid venues where mass quantities of alcohol are consumed, not consuming alcohol oneself, and, most importantly, not doing backflips with a holstered gun.

So he shoots someone, puts his weapon away, and walks away like "my bad", showing no concern for the person he shot? WTF?

I don't have to be psychic to know what happened after the gun hit the floor. He would want to retrieve it as quickly as possible before anyone saw it or it got kicked across the floor. Then, in haste, and human nature and anatomy being what it is, he wrapped all of his fingers around the gun, as one instinctively wants to do with any object.

Pretty much. He thinks he is on an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Yeah, "an unintended discharge occurred." More like, "The retard negligently pulled the trigger and fired his weapon into a crowd of innocent bystanders."

At least he was professional enough to not shoot himself.

Dumbass, for a lot of reasons. Add to the list, carrying an unsecured weapon at the base of his spine while doing backflips, likely while being somewhat intoxicated. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 220-9er,
