Para's thread about fixed blade knives cost me as I ordered a Cold Steel Koban (one of his choices) and another Cold Steel fixed blade.

Para, you are a bad influence... in a good way.

Thank you for throwing logic into the mix, and recommending good products.

Cell phone photo of the two blades... Koban and OSS.

Both feel very nice in my big gorilla hands.

Yah thanks Para Big Grin

I bought a Cold Steel Kobun Knife and a Morakniv Companion Hunting Survival Knife. Pretty nice for the money.

A Gerber Mark I and Command II serve the same roles but "collectible". Smile

Actually, I should send thanks to him; that thread got me thinking again about what if I need to make a stand at home. Only one good fighting knife here until then, and it needed a good whetstone put to it. I'm going to place a sturdy knife in each room (to include the bathrooms), just in case of an invasion there's something within reach. I have a Cold Steel SRK-C on the way, an M3 trench knife arrived this morning. Found three good folders also the past two weeks or so. Smile

Is that Cold Steel made in America? I like the way it looks.

Right???

I will need to find someone to adapt the scabbard of the OSS to horizontal belt carry (maybe a bit angled) so it will conceal well, or maybe a tuckable IWB scabbard with the hilt riding high.

The Koban scabbard looks like I can move the belt clip or easily adapt it to a high belt carry so that I can easily conceal it under a shirt.

Made in Taiwan. Their more expensive blades are usually made in Japan.

Both sharp as heck right out of the box.

I might take a razor strop to them to finish the edges a little more, but these are ready for use right out of the box.

I should be getting my 4.1 inch SOG Kiku any day now. It wasn't on his list, but I think it is a viable candidate.

I found myself checking out that knife also, I'm not really a knife guy - but I liked the looks of that one, a lot.
