Toyota RAV4 owner feedback
My wife wants a Toyota RAV4. I am looking for feedback good or bad.

My wife has one of the older ones with V6 and true 4WD, it is one tuff vehicle. But they don't offer those anymore, would not be interested in one of the 4 cyl AWD for our use.

My wife bought a new one last October to replace her 2007. She doesn't drive hard or far and her RAV4's only go to the mother ship for the free oil changes.

Check rav4world.com. There are probably a number of other vehicle specific forums on these. As you know, the hybrid model won’t be out until April or so.

These are on my short list also. Check out the Mazda CX-5 also. We looked at these today. Nice SUV at a mid-range price.

My mother has had hers for 10 years, and it's still going strong. She has the 4cyl Fwd Limited. All that she's had done are oil/filter changes, tires, front/rear brakes, spark plugs, radiator flush, and an O2 sensor. Only thing she'd like changed would be a large Nav screen, and I'm looking at aftermarket.

I have a 2011 with 130,000 miles on it. I love it.

Since you didn't indicate your preference, I'll offer you this. The 2019 RAV4 is completely redesigned and shares little in common with the older RAV4. I drove a 2019 recently and loved it (that coming from a guy who only drives a full sized pickup). If you're into getting the best deal possible on one, look for a leftover 2018 RAV4 which is still by all accounts a very good vehicle. But if it were me, I'd be shopping for a new 2019 XLE Premium package RAV4. That's a very nicely equipped vehicle that can be had for under $30k drive out.

My wife had a V6 4wd and now has a 4cyl awd and she loves them. I was worried about the 4cyl but it has about the same get up and go as the V6 did.

I bought a 2018. It only has 10k miles, I have no complaints. It has awd, which I am eager to use when I get back to Michigan. None of my former Toyos have disappointed me. And I really put the miles on.

My wife’s 2011 Limited has 130k on it and still drives like the day we bought it brand new. The only thing I ever had to do to it besides maintenance was replace the crap factory battery.

It's the #1 selling automobile in America, so if you buy one and decide you don't like it, you won't have any trouble getting rid of it.

I’ve got a 2005 with 153K miles on it; since retiring in 2011, I don’t drive that much anymore—no more than 6K miles per year. Just have normal maintenance requirements, but the alternator did go out and had to replace it—biggest cost so far.

Exterior still looks go, just a few road dings; interior still good except for driver’s location getting worn.

It’s my understanding that the newer model years are roomier on inside than mine. Wife suggested replacing it with a year or two old version with no more than 25K miles; seriously thinking about it.

Been trying to talk myself into a RAV 4. One question. My son has a 2001 Forerunner with the V6 and it has the gas mileage of a full size v8 truck. How are the newer Toyota V6's on gas?

RAV4's are fantastic vehicles.

We had a 2012 and currently have a 2016.

Great vehicles in snow, 4 cylinder does not feel under powered, decent mileage, highly reliable.

The 2019's have a new 8 speed transmission that the jury is still out on and they have also gone up in price.

I would consider finding a left over 2018 with the 6 speed transmission.

I bought 3 for my family one day in 2016. I got an SE AWD for my wife, an XLE FWD for one daughter to replace her high mileage Soul and an XLE AWD for my daughter in college. We got extended warranted because we think we will keep these for a long time unlike how we used to trade in cars every other year.

I would suggest to not get an SE model, if they even market those with the new body style, because it doesn't ride as nice as my daughters' XLEs.

We are happy with the utility, the fuel mileage, fit and finish and the ride. It will 3 years in a few months, and like most Toyotas, no problems so far.

I saw a new one in a showroom recently, and I just don't know about the styling. That is up to y'all to decide.

They have redone the RAV4. Haven't had an opportunity to look at the new one but it has always been a pretty solid SUV.

I drove from Phoenix to Flagstaff and back over the last two days in one that I rented. It does not feel like the most substantial vehicle in wet hwy driving and when I hit the snow coming into Falgstaff last night it felt less sure footed. It was AWD and I made it out alive but wasnt confident or very comfortable for that matter. Cramped seating without a lot of adjustments.
