Looking for medium sized light that uses AA or AAA batteries. No CR123 or proprietary rechargeable only configuration. I came across Coast and they have what looks to be something that fits my needs in the TX9R https://coastportland.com/coll...lights/products/tx9r While it comes with rechargeable batteries one can always use AAAs. I handled it locally and it is just the right size. It has an adjustable focus beam by sliding the head in and out not rotating it. Which is not a deal breaker but there was almost no resistance in the slide and did lock the focus by rotating the head. The head will be exposed on my duty belt so I am not sure I like that it as there was not much resistance in the lock or slide of the head and seems like it would move easily as the light generally hits right on the back bolster of my vehicle seat. They did not have the model locally but they seem to have a non-rechargeable model that is similar but not rechargeable and is also about 1/3 of the price. https://coastportland.com/coll...hlights/products/hp7 I really don’t care about being able to recharge it since it uses AAAs. Thoughts on these lights? I can get them with my uniform allowance so there is not really anything out of pocket. I can also get Fenix, Streamlight, Surefire, and Pelican but I am not seeing any in the medium size that use AA or AAAs. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I don't have that model, I have the HX5. I really like this compact flashlight. As a matter of fact, I have been looking at the HX5R rechargeable. I use this flashlight everyday pre tripping. It puts out a good flood beam, and a nice tight focused beam. At 130 lumina it is almost the "right " amount of light. I wish it was a little brighter, but I'm afraid the HX5R's 345 lumina will be to bright for the job. Anyways, I like my Coast HX5 a lot, it was under $30.00 and it was just what I was looking for. A very compact, bright, well made flashlight that took AA batteries. I think that I got what I was looking for. ARman

It's a generic flashlight. I think I've seen them on sale in Home Despot. I might have one of their headlights that I bought there rolling around in my car someplace. They work, and they're likely cheap. They're not tacticool. But for a generic utility flashlight, they're fine. You don't always need to spend $50-100+ on a flashlight.
