Well, this past weekend was the Street Rod Nationals. Every year thousands of street rods and now newer cars make the pilgrimage to Louisville Kentucky for the nationals. Extended family, come and it's a week of cars, family and friends. Stories being told about the old times, catching up and just plain kidding around. I go with my uncle in his Street Rod, and his brother in law comes up with his Street Rod. Other extended family shows up from out of town. It's like a family reunion. Cook out at the fairgrounds for lunch and go out for dinner afterwards. Going out for dinner this year didn't happen, it was order out and delivery or cooking out at home. Still, things were different. This year tensions were high. There was a threat of BLM and Antifa showing up. The police, LMPD and State Police were briefed and ready. So were the Street Rodders. There were more guns there than a person could count. Everyone there was pissed hearing that BLM and the rest of the thugs threatened to come there. They never did show up, but people were ready. On the flip side, there were Trump flags flying everywhere. Trump signs and banners everywhere. Trump stickers on Street Rods, about 1 out of 10 people had a Trump hat and/or t shirt on. There were back the Blue and outer law enforcement support signs and flags out there also. A couple of people were selling decals and such of both. Not one (1), not a single Biden anything was spotted at anytime the three days I was there. But Trump, yeah. From all over. There were people/cars from every state, except Hawaii. I didn't see that guy out there, but attendance was down about 50% of normal. With that said, even with the threat of BLM, the pockylips, low attendance and other weirdness; it was like no other Street Rod Nationals I have seen. There still were some good times to be had. I have been, and still am stressed about money, and other things. I'm still waiting on going back to work. But, even with all of that. We managed to pull off some fun. LAPD, Kentucky State Police, JCSD Those guys and girls did a great job. They also allowed some grown men and some women to act like damn fool teenagers, and Kept everybody safe while being professional and also being cool, if you get the drift. So, big Shout out to the boys in blue, gray, and brown. It was a much appreciated weekend, a little diversion from what has been. ARman

Sounds like a great time and turn out. Unfortunately, 99% of the car events in AZ have been cancelled.

Nice, I'd like to attend one year, we have hot rod shows every weekend here, weather depending, now that the state has opened up the local shows are back and happening.

Yeah the Street Rod Nationals is huge. There are usually 10,000 to 15,000 cars from all over. A few years ago there was a guy from England and Hawaii. So when they were given out prizes for longest distance, they had to double check. The guy from Hawaii won. This year, was fun. It's just had this weirdness going on. Only about 50% of normal attendance. There are some local shows still going on, but turnout has been low also. I have to admit, I haven't been going to to many myself. I don't have a Street Rod or anything, just my WRX, mostly stock, but it looks good so I show up where newer cars are allowed. I mostly go with my uncle in his '39 Ford coupe. After all, someone has to keep an eye on him! I would love to get something. Just not right now. ARman

Page late and a dollar short |
Worked at that event once selling GM Performance. The indoor area was one million square feet of air conditioned comfort, a nice change from earlier that year at a GoodGuys event in Columbus Ohio, 105 degrees on blacktop. Downside of working those events was we never got much time to see the cars just in passing on the way to and from our display. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
