Help - Data Getting Lost in Transfer

I have some family photos where I have input some data in the "Comments" field on my Mac in Finder. Sometimes, when I copy the files from place to place, some of the data intermittently falls off. Why? The files are being copied from one folder to another on my HD and/or to an external flash drive.

I tried replicating this issue, but failed. You're talking about the comments field in "Get Info", correct?
