TCM just had the 1951 movie “Westward the Women” as an offering. Yeah, kinda hokey, but it reflected the hardships that those in 1850s (and earlier times) experienced in trying to build a new life out of the wilderness.

When my son was little and we went to restaurants invariably they would put us in the screaming kid section. My son was well behaved and did not cause any problems in restaurants and I hated having to listen to the other brats. They would literally scream for whatever it was they wanted at the moment and the parents would ignore it. If I ever did anything like that as a kid my dad would have corrected me swiftly and severely, thus he never had to. I used the same method of deterrence and as a result almost never had to discipline him.

The problem is bigger than you may realize. Look up Cluster-B personality disorders - Borderline, Narcissistic, Histrionic, and Anti-Social. These are attachment disorders caused by lack of attachment to the primary caregiver in the first few years of life. It does not mean parents were criminally neglectful, it means whomever they were around a good amount of the time did not react quickly or completely enough to meet their needs and efforts to communicate. As a result they are emotionally disregulated and perceive feelings as fact.

Put it more simply - infants and small children in day care do not get enough direct attention from the day care workers. Their cries are not answered quickly by a mother who understands them and attends to the problem without excess delay.

Many of the pathologies we see in younger people are symptoms of the above disorders. Emotional volatility, feelings are facts, words they disagree with are "violence", unstable relationships, projection, refusal to accept responsibility, depression, self-harm (piercings and tattoos are a form of this), unstable self image and adopting group identiities, anxiety, gas lighting, etc.

The bad part is, there is no drug to fix this, they need intensive behavioral therapy. Unfortunately they rarely admit they have a problem, and almost always refuse treatment once the therapist tells them they need to do something to change themselves for the better.

I know and work with plenty of folks who fall into the Gen Z category. None are like this. The folks portrayed have some serious social issues. Reminds me of the 1932 movie, Freaks. I live in the deep South and perhaps that is the reason. College football stadiums were filled to the brim with Gen Z this weekend acting like they always do.It will change,it always does.

After Para posted this, I spent quite a bit of time watching this guys videos. He does do a good job of calling out this kind of insanity. I walk for exercise in our historic city cemetery. On the stones are the story of how Marquette came to be. Its a story of struggle, loss and perseverance. It is not at all unusual to see that early on, families would lose child after child, year after year. Disease, lack of medical care, or accidents all took their toll. The women often died young and during childbirth. The men died in the mines or in support of them. The town they built is now a fine place to live. When I contrast this to how many of our younger generation seem obsessed with childish, pointless and consequence free behavior, it appears to me that our affluent society, and all its vices and ease, may end up being the cause of our collapse.

I've got a pretty decent group of Gen Z's that work for me. Most of them are decent, smart, dedicated and hard working.

Some are as useful as nails on the roadway- just there to fuck things up...

Some great combat vets in that group as well!

And I'll say that the useless twats in the video are more of the minority. That being said, they're like nails in the roadway. There's just enough of them to fuck things up and screw up the flow of traffic.

Case in point- why are we pissed off about trannies, lbqtrsgh, black lies matter? There's just enough of them to screw up the flow of normal traffic. All it takes is one snot-nosed brat screaming his head off to ruin a decent dining experience.
