Those who dare will soon take a similar plunge in Hamilton Lake. Swimmers charge into the water during last year’s annual Jack Gibson Polar Bear Plunge at Hamilton Lake Beach, sponsored by the Hamilton Lions Club. This year’s Plunge will take place Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Jack D. Gibson Scholarship Fund. Gibson was a longtime Hamilton and Garrett educator. Donations will be accepted during check-in and from spectators at the beach. The dip will be at the public beach at Hamilton Lake just north of the four-way stop in downtown Hamilton at the intersection of S.R. 1 and S.R. 427.
