You may also be able to find a good color set by asking for "Gundam pens' at your local hobby store or online.

There are 4 parts to his series, all are highly recommended.

Thanks ltz, I watched them all.

Here is an update. I believe I am finished with the HP and rebrightening.

This is the before pic:

Here is the after:

I'm happy with how it turned out. There are some lighter, and darker spots, but I'll be able to cover all that with some paint wash.

I stopped in Denver over the weekend and picked up some paint and other goodies. Next up is panel lining.

Thanks everyone for all your help!

Thanks HRK, I'm very happy with it!

Here's a little update on the painting. I went with MNSIG's suggestion on the panel lining, and used a concoction of greys and a little brown. I used large swipes with a brush, and ended up spending more time cleaning up my messes than anything else. Lesson learned. I still have the sides and top to do, but am about done with the bottom. I also added a little weathering, and detailed the little engine compartments.

Here is a before:

And after:

And some detail photos:

I haven't painted a model or anything like it in over 35 years. I hope you all are enjoying this as much as I am Big Grin.

/Thumbs up/
I remember when I was around 12 my friend got me a smaller MF for my birthday. I didn't know what I was doing and broke the thruster piece in back removing it from the sprue.

Luckily his dad was a huge model builder (he has a huge paper model of, I think the USS Nimitz) and he fixed and finished it for me.
It had a switch that lit up the thrusters from a battery.

Sadly, I think it may have ended up as a BB gun target.
(If I could go back in time to talk to 12 yr. old me...)

Seems like everyone wanted to move furniture at the same time last month Roll Eyes, otherwise I would have been done a lot sooner.

I redid the exhaust plumes on the mandible on the front on the bottom, I had them way too big. I also added some drippy wash, and some Sigmonkey Streaks.

I then moved onto the top. This got lots of work done. Panel lining, giving everything a drippy type wash, Sigmonkey Streaks, engine exhaust streaks, and all the sides and little engine compartments. After all that, I hit the whole thing with a clear coat.

So, the moment you've all been waiting for (and no, I haven't painted the cannons yet):

Detail on front, can see some Sigmonkey Streaks:

More detail, Chewie is sad the Falcon is up on blocks (I still havent gotten the rest of the parts yet):

More detail, lots of Sigmonkey Streaks:

Chewie likes a clean windsheld:

Engine detail:

I had a blast doing this, although it was time consuming and tedious. It's going to make a great display piece in my office. I may dabble with some painting of the interior in the future. But for now, I'm just waiting on the rest of the parts, or I'll end up having to piecemeal it off ebay.

I hope you all had fun following this as well, and thanks for all the great suggestions and help!
