Zookeepers were stumped over how he escaped, eventually spending some $40,000 hiring experienced rock climbers to find every finger, toe, and foothold within the enclosure and on the steps to eliminate the identified holds. The other animals have reportedly escaped their enclosures as well, leading their keepers on merry chases about the countryside to locate and recapture them.
