I was young, living in Cincinnati when he was mayor. I do not recall that at all. But when I was in high school, he was the evening anchor on the top rated network in Cincinnati. And I recall that well, watching him many, many times.

His passing made me a little sad.

Most everyone that hears this thinks oh my what an idiot he wrote a check to a hooker.
That was likely one of the smartest things he did and 100% intentional. It was all to draw attention away from some other things that he had going on.
I knew his campaign manager that shared that tid bit many years later but never would divulge what exactly it was to draw attention away from.

Wasn't in on his show that Geraldo Rivera got his schnozz broken by someone swinging a chair?

That is some good quality TV right there!

Sad news indeed. People will now have to head over to Waffle House or Spirit Airlines to see a chair throwing brawl.

I have seen only a few shows and only for having been too sick to go to work. Overall, the Springer show was appalling. However, the 'I am Having an Affair with a Midget' episode was hilarious. One could blame the man for making money entertaining the rubes but they paid willingly.

I misremembered. Geraldo had his own cheesy show in 1988 and that is where he got his ass kicked.

Not enough security guards.

Kind of a bummer, he was a big part of my high school years. On my days off him and Maury and whatever else was on in the background while I slacked off and didn't do my homework, instead playing Fallout for the 200th time, or whatever. Not that I was a fan, it's just that's what was on.

I still remember the couple from the trailer park who were having trouble conceiving a child but could not afford a fertility doctor (ding!) and so they tried the turkey baster method for a month (ding!) and it didn't work and so she moved to the guy in the trailer next door (double ding!).....

Geraldo wanted a show with controversy and he got exactly that. I'm not sure who the older tall black guest was, but he had a serious grip on the neo nazi kid's throat.

I'm sure 90% of what was on Jerry was staged, this was 100% real. I wonder how fast Geraldo realized he made a big mistake with that guest list.

I never understood the appeal. When I was on nights some of the guys liked to watch reruns of his show during dinner. I figured we saw enough of that crap in real life, I didn't need to see it while I was eating too. IMO his show just gave a public platform to trash.

My friend's father was on Springer around the time of 9/11.

He is a dwarf, and the skit was a woman who wanted to surprise her husband by requesting a threesome. The husband was all excited for another woman to come out when her comes my friends father running up on the stage and starting to midget-hump everyone.

Because of 9/11 he was grounded in Chicago but said the Springer show took good care of them until the airlines opened back up.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

So, confirming all staged correct?
