Your Sleep Pattern
56, weekdays, 11ish up at 7am. Weekends, 12-1am up at 9

Usually don't have to hit the head unless I have had more than a couple beers

54 y/o I am morning person my wife is a night owl.

22:30/23:30 bedtime (usually in bed by 22:30, lights out by 23:30)

05:30 Wake up

If I get up to pee it’s one time @ 03:00-03:30.

Usually rack out by 9 or 10pm and up at 4am five days a week.

Up one to three times a night to pee depending on how much liquid I have before bed.

Weekends - all bets are off. Up till 9pm to 2am depending on activities. Sleep in and up no later than 8am.

Your body is naturally programmed to pee when you wake up. If you aren’t passing much urine, it may not be why you are waking up.

You may have sleep apnea, are waking up because of that and the going to pee due to biological programming.


I was diagnosed with extreme sleep apnea at the age of 43. Was “waking up to pee” 3-4 times every night but usually produced less than 2-3 oz of urine.

Once I was on CPAP, I went back to regularly sleeping through the night and if I did get up to go pee I pee’d with purpose and volume.


Similar expirence here - was diagnosed a couple years ago with sleep apnea with an at home test.


Since I started with the CPAP machine I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten up in the middle of the night to take a leak.


cajunmuscle - I'd recommend talking to your Dr about this.

80 YO in a few weeks.

To sleep usually 2100-2200; usually up at 0500 to hit the bathroom; if no requirement to stay up, usually back to bed until about 0700.

I’m convinced that having to get up at other times in the night to pee is largely a conditioned habit and I try to avoid it. Often I can, but sometimes I can’t.

sleep 0730-1200.
Gotta get to class by 13:30. Class is 13:30-14:20 MWF. Then I'll chill before I go to work.

I work 6p-6a and stay up all night on my days off so I can maintain a consistent sleep time.

But in a month, they are switching my schedule to Noon-Midnight M-W one week then M-Thu the next week then repeat.

So I will have no idea how I will sleep then.

41. Normal work week schedule I'm up at 4:00am and try to be out by 9-9:30 at night. Weekends is kind of fluid depending on what is going on.

My sleep pattern has been messed up because of the military. I usually sleep different times and will get 2 or 3 hours sleep, wake up for sometimes for an hour and try to go back to sleep for 2 or 3 more hours. This has given me anxiety, especially during work, as I get sleepy during the day during work and fight to stay awake. I sometimes take power naps during lunch. Some of my friends tell me to get a sleep study done via the VA and claim it. I have a friend do this and claim it and was able to get compensation for it that brought him to 80% with other items. VA has been clamping down on this. Too many claims for sleep apnea. Disrupted sleep patterns is a different matter. Make sure it is not a home based sleep study as it is not quite as accurate.

70. Typically watch an old TV series around 8:00 PM with the wife. I never see the 10:00 PM news but always wake up around 3:30 - 4:00 AM and I'm on the road to work by 5:00 AM. I haven't used an alarm in at least a decade. I never oversleep which is nice also a curse. Occasional oversleeping in a nice thing Big Grin

I'm 78.

Usually heading to bed around 9:30 and always up before 5AM. I do take a 45 minute nap around noon if at all possible. I get up to pee at least once sometimes twice.

65. For 45 years I had a strict regiment, bed between 9 and 10, set my alarm for 4AM and would wake up at 3:55. When I retired four years ago it went bonkers. Ten PM one night 5 AM the next, waking up at 10 AM bugs the shit out of me, the day is half over. Oh well, I'm retired, who cares.
Going to meet next week for lunch with a bunch of old coworkers. Really looking forward to that!

do get up to pee about 2, and sometimes I need to go again around 4-6am or not,

however I drink a lot of fluids, have for years, due to kidney stones, tend to flush them out,
I'll drink a glass of water before bed, and if I get up to pee, drink a juice glass full

I can 99.9% of the time , get up, wizz and go right back to sleep,

I'm usually in bed by 9:00-9:30 pm, and then up at 5:40 on work days, or 6:30-7:00 am on days off.

I usually don't have to get up to pee during the night, unless I drank a bunch of fluids the evening before.

Occasionally I'll have to work an evening shift, like tonight. I usually stick to my usual sleep schedule, but then avoid caffeine in the morning, and grab a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon before work.

To bed around 1-2 A.M. up by 7-8. One or two bathroom trips during the night due to the bladder stent and the massive kidney stone that comes out in February via laser.

Bedtime between 9 and 10 most nights
Wakeup between 5 and 6 depending on that day's schedule.

Getting more and better sleep is one of my primary health goals. I'm using a Fitbit to track it. Between Jan and today I've increase my actual nightly sleep from 6 to 6 1/2 hours per night. Working my way to 7.

My sleep quality is generally good with plenty of deep sleep early, especially on days when I've exercised. Once I start cycling in and out of REM sleep later in the night I wake up frequently. Traditionally, getting back to sleep has always been a problem. If I started thinking about work, I was doomed. Late last year I started listening to an audiobook on a timer with an earbud in to not bother the wife. This was a game changer for going back to sleep. I'm a side sleeper, so I just put the earbud in the 'top' ear, reset the timer an press play, and I'm back to sleep no problem.

My average Fitbit score is 81 which is good but not great. I generally sleep 6-7 hours and almost always wake up for a trip to the bathroom. Sleep pattern is varied with those hours happening anywhere between 900pm and 630am.
