65. Pattern is no pattern. No set time. Sleep whenever I can no longer keep my eyes open. Wake up whenever I feel like it, except on work days, of course. That means I could be sleeping for an hour or less before going to work. Or, even no sleep at all. Q

67, and I have no set times (what I assume is meant by "pattern"). I used to have a little more of one when I had to maintain a work schedule. Now that I don't, just when I feel tired, sometimes including an afternoon siesta. "The Almighty, He put some livin' things on this earth so a man can eat." - Festus Haggen, Gunsmoke

I’m 53 and rarely have to get up to pee, that to me is a red flag. Have you been checked out for that? How much liquid are you drinking before bed?

I'm 67 and rarely get up to pee...thankfully. I try to get into bed between 9-10pm and hopefully sleep until around 6am. Lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night because of active dreams. I hope this stops as it's not easy for me to get back to sleep.

Old guy here. Bedtime is 8 - 10 or so. One bathroom trip each night. Problem I have is my mind won't shut up, then when I do go to sleep, the dreams are crazier than whatever I could imagine while awake. Not like 'high school memories' crazy, but 'being thrown in to a different dimension in a military base in Chicago and pulling six soldiers from various wars out of it' crazy. Olde Boomer. I sleep about 6 hours, may wake, but go back to sleep for another 1-2 hours. Otherwise about 8 hours. (lived 60 years on 4-6 hours sleep and ran full tilt the entire time I was awake.) No trouble falling asleep, and I often will take afternoon nap about 30 minutes to an hour. Occasional pee trip, but usually about the 6 hour point. And drink about 4 oz. of water at that time, if I go back to bed, otherwise start the day. My cat does more to wake me wanting a snack (he has a "Snack" button (recorded word) and he will press it every few seconds. Or he will start messing with my keys on the dresser to wake me if I ignore the "Snack Button". He knows it wakes me up, and is the only time he gets on the dresser and touches my keys. He thinks he pays the bills or something. "the meaning of life, is to give life meaning" ✡ Ani Yehudi אני יהודי Le'olam lo shuv לעולם לא עוד

Been termed by others as crazy but has been this way for far too long. Get sleep in 2.5 to 3.5 hour sessions around the clock. Insomniac? That means I might could be up and functioning in the early afternoon or at oh-dark-thirty. Toss and turn a lot. CPAP with O2 feed essential regardless. And yes, the bathroom sees frequent visits. Age 67. People ask what time I go to bed and I tell them 9 or 10, but if I get started down an internet rabbit hole I might be up until 2AM. But I'm retired, so I can sleep as late as I need to. Usually wake up once for bladder relief around 5AM but go back to sleep after.

Do you snore? How much do you actually pee when you “wake up to pee”? Your body is naturally programmed to pee when you wake up. If you aren’t passing much urine, it may not be why you are waking up. You may have sleep apnea, are waking up because of that and the going to pee due to biological programming. I was diagnosed with extreme sleep apnea at the age of 43. Was “waking up to pee” 3-4 times every night but usually produced less than 2-3 oz of urine. Once I was on CPAP, I went back to regularly sleeping through the night and if I did get up to go pee I pee’d with purpose and volume. As for your current question, I’m 62 usually go to sleep around 10:30 and up between 5:30 and 6:30. Retired, so rarely set an alarm. 50/50 on if I get up to pee at night. If I do, it’s just once and good volume. According to my Apple Watch, I average 7 hours and 15 minutes of sleep nightly for the past year. 56... to bed, usually, anywhere from 11pm-2am. Wake up every 2-3 hours and up every hour as it gets closer to staying up.* Alarm at 7:15 which I'm usually awake for. If I "sleep in" on days off, I'm usually wide awake at 8:15. Flip a coin if I have to pee once through the night, seems to be more behavioral than anything. If I get used to having to go, it'll happen every night. If I go away, sleep somewhere else, I never need to get up to pee. * This is like clockwork, I will wake up the same exact time to the minute every night for weeks at a time. At the moment I'm waking up at 4:23 and 5:23 every night.

75. In bed by 8pm, do the crossword puzzle, lights out by 8:30. Occasionally later if I get into a good movie. Up to pee generally 2x, go right back to sleep. Occasionally more often depending on diet. Up between 4:00 and 5:00 most of the time. Lately been waking up between 3:00 and 4:00, and having a bit of trouble getting back to sleep. 1 hour nap starting between 12:30pm and 3:00pm depending on how busy/interested I am with projects. 40 in 3 days Bed usually around 11pm, alarm goes off at 530 on weekdays. Same on weekends, but up around 7-8am ETA: I usually read for an hour or so before turning in. Read somewhere years ago that a half hour or more without a screen [TV, phone or otherwise] in your face improves sleep quality. The Enemy's gate is down.

I just turned 70. I am a night person. Majority of my career was on midnights. As a kid, I stayed up most of the night, went to school all day then to bed when I got home. Drove my parents nuts. Now: Watch a movie on Netflix or Prime until 2 AM or so. Take a couple of Melatonin, which make for a deeper sleep for me and get up around 9 AM or so. I may tinkle once but not every night. Night has always fascinated me!This message has been edited. Last edited by: YooperSigs, End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles
