V-TailThe Legend of the Two Wolves
As I read some of the comments posted here on SIGforum and observe the difference in demeanor between many of these, I am reminded of this legend attributed to the Cherokee Indians.
quote:
One evening, an elderly Cherokee brave told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said "my son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
"The other is good. It is joy, peace love, hope serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson though about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "which wolf wins?"
The old cherokee simply replied, "the one that you feed."

mrapteam666I was introduced to this legend when I was really young (I just turned 50).
I have a lithograph of it here at the house or at my parents house in Florida.

NOCkidIt reminds me of the allegory of the vulture and the hummingbird in the desert. Can't remember it exactly, but it's about the vulture feeding on dead, rotting substance and the hummingbird preferring sweet nectar- each will find what it is seeking.
