I was diagnosed with a hole in the macula of my right eye. My dominant eye. I had it repaired with a procedure called a vitrectomy where the go inside your eyeball. This was on July 8th. My vision is still blurred at my point of focus. I tried a little dry-fire practice and had trouble seeing the front sight. The doc says I will not regain 100% of my vision, but the alternative was possibly going blind in that eye. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did it turn out. The doctor said it would be several months before it is completely healed.

Not sure if its comparable to your diagnoses, but my grandfather has wet macular degeneration. He is legally blind. It effects both of his eyes. He has good spots and has to read off focal point if that makes sense using his periphery. He has a little magnifying glass that he always has with him. Every time he wants to read something he whips that thing out and gets it right up close to his better eye.

They treated his condition with shots into the eyeball. I don't know anything more really about the treatment.

He's in his 80's now and has been dealing with it for the past 15 years or so.

Stay on top of that and wish you the best.

That may be a little different condition. But I find that with my right eye, I too have to read off the focal point. My right focal point is a little fuzzy.

The macular degeneration and the macular hole are two completely different things.

I've got dry macular degeneration and it's not progressing at all, probably due to my taking PreserVision.

The one with the hole is probably not going to get better. One of the guys I shoot with has this and has basically switched to shooting with his other eye.

I know my medical issue is different but I think the after effects may be similar. I had a retinal detachment in my dominant left eye in March. I got released by the doctor (no more follow-ups) end of June.

My vision through my left eye is still screwy like straight lines aren't straight and I can't read with it. So when both eyes are open and I'm reading, sometimes the left eye wants to take over and I can't read. I have to close my left eye to continue.

I'm still hoping it improves. I know someone who had retinal detachment said it will eventually. I hope you heal well yourself.

I wonder if going to a red-dot would help?

Either way, red dot or iron, you'd need to close the eye that has the issue. That's what I'm having to do.
