I live in the DFW area and overnight, 4-10" of rain, depending on location. And in my neighborhood, the ground sucked it right up. Still raining now, and expected throughout the early week.

Other than needing a tractor to mow my 1/2 acre, loving the rain. Sat on the back porch with the dog & watched it yesterday.

Weather avoidance and flying for hours with your head buried in the radar is VERY tiring. But yes…the rain is SORELY needed!

In the Northern Houston burbs, we didn't get anything measureable yesterday (rain gauge bone dry this morning), but myself and over 5000 people lost power for about an hour at noon (well, I lost power for 10 seconds before the Kohler took over). We did get about 1.5" of rain on Friday and Saturday which was very appreciated as my water bill has been highest ever since moving here in '16.

It looks like Downtown Dallas got some flooding and people had to be rescued from their cars. As we head into the thick of hurricane season it's a good reminder for "turn around, don't drown"

Speaking of thick of hurricane season, here is the NWS chart:

I'm starting to think that's just the nature of Texas. People here act like things just aren't right unless they get the occasional flood or hurricane.

At this point I’d welcome any rain here in the Texas Hill Country. It seems Texas is feast or famine. In 1979 I lived close to the coast ( Houston area). A record was established. 42 inches in 24 hours. I understand that the Houston area got 49 inches over a longer period during the recent hurricane. Glad I was gone for that one.

Interesting you got nothing yesterday, Todd. We got a solid 1/2 hr, probably 10 mins heavy, rain yesterday & Saturday.
And we're only about 7 miles apart, closer as the crow flies.

My old neighborhood I left last year in Dallas has gotten almost 8” since yesterday. Here in Denton I would be surprised if we have gotten 1 1/2”. Somewhere between the two would be nice. I’m not sure our St. Augustine is going to come back.

It's been the rain lottery this year with lots of small storms that hit some and miss some. I've lost track of how many storms missed me by 2 to 5 miles.

As you can imagine, the neighborhood FB page was full of pissed off people without power without the benefit of rain.

Man, I miss Stevie Ray Vaughan...

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I was down the road from you at HEB Saturday morning & got the kid/groceries loaded just as it started to lightly rain. Progressively heavier as I moved away from your area & toward the house.
