Not me. I had my introduction to Islam over 50 years ago. It was not pleasant.

220-9er makes a good point and I saw this stat elsewhere also, that nearly 1/3 of the US population wasn’t even born when 9/11 happened. Unfortunately unlike previous generations ( I wasn’t born when 12/7/41 happened but was taught the significance of it and took it to heart) a lot of schools are not teaching children about these things or painting a mostly inaccurate picture to fit a dysfunctional false narrative

A good portion of the soldiers, NCO's and Officers I serve with were not born.

At one of my drills for my last unit, I made a comment about the movie, Demolition Man, and the 1LT stated that he is only 27 and he was like two years old when that movie came out.

That is the fundamental problem: no appreciation of history, not when people were born and what they experienced personally by watching the tube. And it's not limited to people who were born since that day. Many/most of our national so-called leaders have no more understanding of the lessons that they should have learned from the past.

“ One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. … Against stupidity we are defenseless. … [R]easons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one's prejudgment simply need not be believed … and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside ….”

Personally, I don't think there should be a Muslim in this country given their history and their violence and their incompatibility with Western culture, particularly with ours.
Add to that the fact that on 9/13 I stood at that pile of destruction. The image will never leave my mind.

Back in school in the 1960's and 1970's, I was taught not only about Pearl Harbor but also the internment camps for Japanese Americans. However, the discussions about the internment camps wasn't to excuse the attack on Pearl Harbor or to paint America's war making as unjustified. As I recall, we discussed the Constitutional violations and the very difficult considerations of preventing espionage which could cost us the war vs citizens' Constitutional rights.

Contrast that to today, where everything must be portrayed binary, in the most extreme way. Either good or bad, and then attributed to a political party. Any imperfection or error is an excuse to void the entire position, for political advantage. The culture has moved to a blame-America-first model because of this rigid thinking.

Also, conspiracy theories have flourished, where now large portions of the population disbelieve everything, and are incapable of rational educated analysis.

It isn't so much that 1/3rd of the population has no personal memory of 9/11, it's that they have been programmed to discount it because of perceived negatives about America. We didn't experience Pearl Harbor or WWII, but we learned the importance. I do think it relevant that so many have no memory of life before 9/11.

This is illustrated perfectly by the recent history with the Covid “vaccine”. The number of people I have talked to that ignore empirical evidence is amazing to me. Case in point is my brother in law. A rabid leftist, he refuses to believe that the vaccines were anything but humanity’s savior- he completely ignores the fact that despite his vax and multiple boosters, his getting covid TWICE after all of them was due to people like me that refused to get them… even though nobody in MY household got covid more than a single time.

If everyone got the vaccine and he still got the wuflu and all the death stats remained unchanged, would he still consider the shot a success? Probably so. Cuz that what the gov would say. So, sounds like the non-vaccinated are a red herring. He’s not rational.

No excuse or, excuse me, context is unaccepatable.

I had the name reading ceremony on yesterday and caught the moment the camera caught those two laughing it up. I couldn’t believe it…they truly did not give a shit about the ceremony. I would have loved it if one of the name readers caught them and used their speaking time to a) point it out to the crowd and b) ask the crowd “who here voted for these ass clowns??”

I arrived just a day or two later. Stayed about 2 months. For a lot of people they can not comprehend what it was like in person.

You can blame that on government education. It's not taught in schools because Barack Obama didn't want teachers to talk about the”ugly”side of America. What I find to be rather funny was I was not born during Pearl Harbor but I certainly know all about it this is a failure of government education. And the parents.

To some extent, what is and isn't taught at schools is determined by your local school board. If your local schools are not doing what you feel needs to be done, get involved.

Otherwise, they will continue to fail our next generation.
