What do you like for a cordless handheld vaccuum that doesn't cost 300 dollars?

I bought this one after a small amount of research. Mostly because I am/was already heavily invested in the DeWalt 20V battery system. So far, I've been pretty happy with it, as is Mrs. A. who pulls it out occasionally for some light cleaning rather than the Dyson upright. We have a real shedder of a hound, and it gets plenty of use sucking up dog hair. Plenty of power, and a goodly assortment of attachments, goes through batteries pretty quickly. I might have preferred if it had wet debris capability, but I also have a shop vac for that kind of thing.

We had a shark like pyker mentioned. Battery was shot after a bit over a year.
We bought a cheap Black & Decker, good so far after a year & cheap enough to just toss & reorder if it dies.

I think it's this one

This Shark has been outstanding and also had very high consumer reports grades.

Consumer Reports likes the Shark Vertex, cheaper than Dyson's. $179 online at Walmart.

Second this. Very good for small messes in the kitchen. Has a metal filter screen and a pleated paper filter. Allows you to clean flour and such without blowing it all over the place. Mines ~3yo. No issues. Was ~100 IIRC

I use this Dewalt 1/2 gal vacuum for everything from small jobs to cleaning the leaves out of the ridge vent on the roof. It uses the same batteries that I already have and I bought an accessory pack of nozzles that fit the hose for more versatility.

I had two of the Black & Deckers and one of them is awesome and the other one is weak. They use a built in rechargeable battery so I’m guessing the weak one has a worse battery. You can clearly hear that it doesn’t rev up to the rpm of the hood one.

I figured it was a battery problem on the other one so I just recently bought a Dewalt that uses the same batteries as several of my other tools. I have only used it once and it worked great so time will tell.

Black & Decker 20v.

High suction, lasts a while, costs about $100.

I got this lil bugger honestly not expecting much as it was a Prime Day purchase 3 years ago for $50. Is it an end all corded vacuum, certainly not. Does it gobble up our labs hair pretty much daily from the main floor where she mostly hangs out yes. Does it do great when the kiddos spill something yup.

This is not a comparison as I bought the Dewalt solely as I already owned batteries. I has worked fine for the kinds of light duty projects I've used it for.

We've used the everloving crap out of our Shark Ion stick vacuum, including as a cordless vac on the stairs and in cars. I spent some time looking for a link though and it looks like they stopped making it. Frown Guess I need to watch this space too.

For battery powered, the Ridged is the highly rated, however, I bought the Ryobi instead due to having lots of other Ryobi batteries (I had Dewalt and Ego batteries but Ego doesn't make a vac, and Dewalts are very poor performers).

Project farm and Consumer Reports have pretty good testing> PF splits vacs between cordless shop vacs, and household vacs, but essentially they are all handheld. My Ryobi is very portable and it sucks:-) In a good way, I love it. I bought an identical one for my brother for Christmas.

Dirt Devil and Shark have both been good.

They have lots of price points and styles.

Decide what you want to spend and pick your poison.

Also, look at what brand you have for cordless tools.

They all make vacuums.

It would be worth just getting a matching tool only vacuum.

I have both Dewalt and Ryobi.

If I was buying one now, I would get a Ryobi for light use and Dewalt for heavy duty.
