davetruongFlag pole...
It's been a while since I've posted. My second son's friends are very left leaning, we actually like them. Our philosophies do not align but that's ok, we can't agree on everything. But the other day they saw our newly installed 20ft flag pole (had to remove it because it was incorrect and waiting on the correct one). They were "disappointed" that we were so pro Trump. Though we are Republicans, we don't 100% with what Trump does. Nor do we believe 100% that dems are wrong. I had to explain to them that we I was not lucky to be born in this beautiful country of ours. But I am an AMERICAN, and a proud one. Unlike me, they were born in America. They are American first before they decide to lean in the political leanings. They should be proud of that. That's what our flag means to me, it shows that I am proud to be an American...This country has given me so much, as it has given so much to so many people.
Hope you all are enjoying your holidays!

cruiser68I have a flag flying at my house. I am proud to be an American. I know some neighbors think badly of me because I am patriotic. I just don’t give a shit about them. It’s disgusting to me that many citizens look at the flag with disdain.

arfmelPeople who think there’s something wrong with flying the Stars and Stripes can fuck right off, IMO.

coloradohunter44Too many people sacrificed heavily for what we have had in this country. It only takes one generation to throw it all away. If people don't like or support our military, our police and first responders, then they can relocate. They are not welcome in any part of my life, nor do they deserve the liberties afforded to them in this country.

Yeah, when I last lived in CA in the last year, I stopped flying the flag because of fires being set to homes that displayed the flag, plus thieves were targeting homes with flags, banking on the possibility of them containing firearms. Before that, I was the only one to fly the flag in my neighborhood anyways. I'm glad Dave is flying his, and nevermind the ones "disappointed" with Trump, they don't have a clue.

Pole in my yard with the US and TX flags
We also pay the local HD band and they put a flag at the end of my driveway for the patriotic holidays. We're the only ones on our street, other than my neighbor that has a US flag on an angle mount on his house.
Reminds me I need to order new flags.

lastmanstandingI fly a flag at home and three up at the lake property in the summer time. One is on a 20' pole the other is a front porch flag that is mounted to the deck railing and the third is on our bunk house. Planning a big summer bash for the 250th birthday this year on the 4th. Already accumulating decorations for it.
Going to smoke two or three briskets, a bunch of ribs, chickens, sausages and more. Anyone who wanders in will get fed until the food is gone. Even though I'm in Minnesota I'm in the heavily pro Trump northern part of the state. If someone up here does not like the flag they will never admit it out loud.

vthokyWhen I got out of rentals and into a mortgage back in ’95, I didn’t pay any real attention to the faded flag the previous owners left in the closet. When I got home after work on September 11, 2001, that flag went into the holder outside.
Shortly after, I replaced it with a new one. Twenty-four years and two addresses later, there’s not a single day I’ve not flown the flag. It’s lit at night, and replaced regularly, with the tattered ones going to Dad’s veterans’ group for proper destruction. If not for the trees in the front yard, I’d be looking into a 20-foot flagpole myself.
No neighbor has ever said a negative thing to me about my flag, and it wouldn’t do them any good if they did.
Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.

P-220David,
IMO, you have a perspective they are unable to understand.
Although we fly the American flag throughout the year, it has nothing to do with supporting Trump. .Like you, we do not support 100% of what Trump does, and occasionally we do side with the Democrats. We flew the flag proudly under all Administrations.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be born here, often take what we have for granted. Traveling to foreign countries, reminds me of just how blessed we are.

davetruongMy parents came to the states in 1980 with my brother and I in tow. We were the Vietnamese refugees you saw on 20/20. Our family never relied on government assistance, I am so proud of that. My mom worked at a pharmacy taping up boxes to ship. My dad worked at Apple and retired from Rockwell (Conexant). My family did assembly work on the dining room table after dinner till for an electronics component company to make ends meet. Our Friday dinner was a 20 pc chicken McNugget with rice to be shared by 5 of us. We complained that life was tough, we complained that we didn't have new clothes, it was tough to see kids play sports over the weekends and after school...but never ever did we rely on the government for anything. We hated seeing people take advantage of welfare, of housing of food stamps. You can't have the American Dream unless you work the American Way.

abnmacvHang my stars and stripes everyday. Live in a D state, not afraid to show my belief in America. An overarching belief of the left is America is, and has always been, bad. Once in a while I hear some lefty say something to me that I take as an opportunity to show them they've missed in life.

12131My flag flies 24/7/365. While I don’t agree with Trump 100% of the time, but most of the time, there’s nothing the Dems do that I agree with. Zero. And whichever party is in power never changes the fact that I always am proud to be an American.

mcrimmI have a 25 foot pole in my front yard with a solar light on top. The Arizona sun fades them fairly quickly, but I have it up continually.
I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown

If it's the former, they need to get their heads out of their privileged asses.

MikeinNCGood on you Dave for flying the National Ensign. I fly mine unless the weather is bad.
Many people don’t recognize or understand the suffering a few people endured to protect and serve the Nation. You obviously do. And I commend you.
I served (USCG 20 yrs)
my dad did (USCG 4 yrs)
my grandfather (USN 20)
grandmother (USN 4)
I’m sure you will find that not everyone agrees with POTUS all the time on every issue ( I don’t) but I recognize that he also believes in the country and is doing much better than I would were I in charge.
Fly your flag high; you can tell anyone who doesn’t like it, “fuck off”-it’s the American way

KMitch200Funny how you could tell how someone voted in the last couple of elections by whether they had a flag flying.
The demonrats seem to think it’s vile.

sigarmsp226We fly and have flown our American flag 24/7/365 also. I too have had some neighbors that comment on how it detracts from the front of my home - whatever.
We recently moved to a smaller “old” town where more of the homes and people seem to be more Pro-American because we see American Flags flying everywhere. To date we have donated five American flags to homes that have one flying, but need’s replacing (we all see these). Four of the five free flags were accepted with a smile, handshake, and/or a thank you.
One questioned what I was “trying to sell” which to my reply was nothing, just trying to be neighborly. That one I came back the next day and left the flag with a note thanking him for his service (saw a veteran tag on his old truck) and that the flag was free. To my surprise two weeks later, he replaced his battered flag with the one I left.
I purchase the good American made, sewn, nylon 3x5 flags from Amazon when they go on sale for $9.99 each. It’s a great feeling to give someone a new flag and a couple of heavy duty cable ties. One flag my son and I replaced because the home owner was older and could not climb a ladder. I drive by that one at least once a week and it is still flying.
Want a good feeling - Look around where you live for a battered flag on an home that flies it proud knowing they might struggle to pay out an extra $10-$20 for a new flag and surprise that home with a new flag. I had one lady give me a new American flag two weeks after I gave her one and asked me to pass it on to someone who needed it.
Right now my old 2012 Toyota Tacoma pick-up has a new vacuum packed American Flag with a bag of cable ties in it just waiting for the next flag I see that needs replacing. The local VFW facility also has an old U.S. Postal Mail Drop box that has been converted (they painted it Red/White/Blue and put a sign on it) to a free old flag drop box, which I have used each time I replace one.
