He's coming tomorrow. Innernet claims he's over 125 years old. You cant shoot a shadow ya know. I think a varmint grenade atop a .220 Swift case would be perfect medicine for his old carcass. Most especially if he sticks us with 6 more weeks of winter.

Every photo or video of Phil I have ever seen would lead me to believe that he wants nothing to do with the tradition.

The wife and I have adopted Ground Hog Day as an ongoing special day. We plan on some form of "ground hog" for dinner and then watch the movie with a couple of beverages.

We are pretty Meh on Valentines Day. However we do celebrate March 14 It's Pie Day ya know. Wink

This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype! Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it.

This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.

Groundhog Day

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Tastes more like rabbit. I prefer, lightly floured, pan fried with country gravy from drippings and mashed potatoes. Biggest deal with woodchucks is making sure to remove all scent glands during processing.

When I was a kid, our neighbor would give me a box of .22 LR hollow points every week to bring him whistle pigs. I don't know how he prepared them, I just liked shooting them, and the farmer appreciated it too.

Groundhog Day is one of my wife's favorite movies, and once coming home from her sister's place in OH, we passed the Pauxatauny sign on I-80. She was like, "Can we go there, can we, huh, huh? Can we huh?", so we made a detour. It's a nice town, but I wouldn't want to be there tonight or tomorrow.

I represented my firm at a firm anniversary party hosted by a client one February 2nd some years ago. I didn’t realize it until I got there but the principal’s birthday was also that day so they were celebrating both with the movie playing on the big TV in the background. It was a novel idea but I haven’t heard of them hosting any more since, which sort of defeats the idea.

Was this holiday remotely as memorable or important before the movie was made?

RIP Harold Ramis. He made it into a reminder to be a nicer person. Kind of like A Christmas Carol for modern times.

This movie has had such a big impact on our culture. I think he would be surprised and I think it's really cool.

I wouldn't say no to an early spring. Woof! This winter has SUCKED!

It was a pretty big thing in PA for 100+ years but the movie made it way more nationally known I think. Growing up here, it was always a big deal on the local news.
