My colonoscopy is already overdue and my doctor's office just called to tell me it was cancelled for next Wednesday and had to be rescheduled due to lack of help at the hospital. So for now it is rescheduled in February. My wife works at the hospital as a pharmacist and they have recently had quite a few people quit in her department and it started with the Covid vaccine mandate for everyone that works in the hospital. They became short staffed and that made working conditions worse and thus more people quit givng very short notice including people who have worked there for years. Some of the people that quit moved to states where they were not forced to get the vaccination. She says that morale at the hospital among staff is the worst she has ever seen it in the 13 years she has worked there. I feel so sorry for her as she used to love her job. So all this bullshit about forcing people to get the vaccine is having a really bad consequence of making health care worse in our state. If you need to go to a hospital for something please try to be a little more patient with the staff there if things are not happening as quickly as you would expect. It may be better in other states but here they are having a very difficult time trying to do their jobs the way they normally used to do.

No significant foresight into "what happens when we fire people for not taking the vaccine."

That sucks. I'm seeing that a lot at my employer as well. It still sounds worse for you, since it's actually putting your ass on the line. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. LOL. I will be fine but I hate what she and the others are going through. The staff are also very upset that they can never seem to use their PTO. My wife had 320 hours worth and had to cash in some of it (she only got 90 pecent for some reason) or she would not accumulate any more. She wants the time off but since they are so short on help it doesn't get approved.

At least they canceled you a week ahead. Just imagine they call to cancel just after you swallow the prep solution!

I would think that living in a liberal state where such things are commonly taking place, one might expect such a result. Illinois has led the world in stupidity over the years. Sorry it's affecting you. Have you considered moving yourself? Wife went to the ER for chest pain via ambulance. Driver had to get permission if he could bring her. At the hospital, they were debating if the Doc would accept her for treatment. Waiting room full. Nurses complaining about certain people not getting vax'd due to political leaning.

Whatever you do, don't call them up to complain and rant. They'll probably just tell you to blow it out your ass. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Many are cancelling any nonelective procedures. The hospitals here will not allow visitation on any patient.

My local Walgreens Rx has had the same staffing woes lately. Add that the local BiMart Rx closed. More customers, less staff, makes for hour long waits in the Rx line. SIGnature NRA Benefactor CMP Pistol Distinguished

It’s a cycle that plays to their agenda, cancel all non emergent procedures, when people get sicker due to lack of tests and care, and die, if they test positive for Covid it’s another Covid death.

My mom has been hospital confined for three weeks now and is scheduled for two more. It's her fourth knee replacement and it keeps getting infected. Medicare won't cover the $188/day it costs for a nurse to come to the house to administer the IV antibiotics. But they'll pay the $60k this hospital stay will run. Now she's being kicked out because the hospital is being overrun with Covid patients. They can't tell her where she's going, but since this was the closest place to my folks' home, my dad is going to have a much longer drive to visit her now.
