| Look into Helping A Hero.
"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne
"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24 |

| You can't compare very large charities with very small individual/owner run charities. Expenses are going to be higher, a lot higher, but they also reach more people, get more overall donations and help more people.....they advertise a lot, but their advertisement also helps smaller charities that don't advertise as they put veterans needs on the map in people's minds..... |

| I've donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation... http://specialops.org/ They provide educational financial assistance for college, trade schools, etc., for the children of military special operations personnel who die in the line of duty. They also give financial assistance to wounded and hospitalized special operations vets. They're rated 4 stars by Charity Nagivator, with 87.2% of their funds going towards program expenses. https://www.charitynavigator.o...h.summary&orgid=7584

| I used to be a regular doner but the they sold my name to other charities and almost every mail delivery I get requests from other charities. Well living on retired pay I can't afford it so I have stopped paying except for the DAV and the VFW. They have killed the goose that laid the golden egg!

| Here's a thought...try doing something for a local vet directly. Especially a disabled one. If nothing else drag him (or her) down to a local eatery for breakfast once in a while, sit at the counter and let them interact socially even for half an hour or so. If he's not up to that physically, ok; mow his yard for him or do some minor chore for him. It's even better if you can listen to them. None of this is tax deductible, but it's still worth it.
