I tracked it down w/ my budget 10" Orion Dob.
It was a tiny blue dot. Neptune was supposed to be nearby at the time but I could not find it.

Er. So yes. I've seen Uranus.

How long would Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon be, if it was written for the dark side of Uranus? Longer or shorter? Music divided by physics, times astronomy is hard Roll Eyes

In 1986 I was living in St. Paul, MN. KSTP TV had a weekday 6 PM newscast with cohosts Ron Majors (principal) and Cindy Brucatto (a DEI hire).

In alternation one would lead in a story and the other would deliver it. One evening Majors delivered this lead-in:

“Cindy, the scientists have sent a probe to Uranus, and found it to be warmer and gassier than they expected.”

Straight-laced Cindy was clearly annoyed, but grimly delivered the story.
