Police shooting in GA, right or wrong?
IMO this LEO, the shooter, most likely ended his career. What say SF members?

A voice is heard saying; “Was there a weapon?”
“No,” a deputy says.

Coweta County sheriff defends deputy’s shooting after seeing body camera footage. Personally I think they are trying to keep the .gov from having to make a huge payout.
----------------

After reviewing and considering comments from those with more experience in these matters, I conclude that with the squealing tires the officer was fully in his right to shoot the suspect.

I guess people from the more liberal "west coast" have a different way of looking at things. Here in the great State of Georgia we tend to not tolerate thugs, especially those who try and hurt our civil servents.

Uncooperative suspect, wouldn't show ID, wouldn't get out of the car, drives away from the police at high speed endangering the public (like he was gonna get away in his pos car) refuses to give up after pit (you can hear his tires squealing as he was still trying to flee).

He killed himself by his own stupid behavior.

I saw a good shoot and professional behavior by the police just trying to do a thankless job and make it home safely.

Well I'm from the west coast and I don't see where the cop did anything wrong. I'm feed up with these guys that drive at high speed to get away from cops. Back in the early 1980s, I seen 1st hand a guy that lost control of his car running from state police hit and killed a jogger. The guy hit the jogger at 80 to 90 MPH it was ugly to see.

He had a weapon, a 7,000 lbs vehicle. He already proved that he would use it by driving off.

Fuck that guy.

This. The cop just didn’t think the answer through properly.

At 3:54 in the video...

Deputy 1 - “You alright?”

Deputy 2(shooter) - ”I’m good”

Heart pounding, adrenaline dump, one shot through the windshield to the head... no Deputy, you are not “good”, you’re GREAT!

Suspect had a considerable number of options to avoid getting all shotified, he chose to ignore them and that is on (in?) his head alone...

It is so easy to not get shot by a LEO. Do what they tell you to do when they tell you to do it. Easy peasy. If the LEO is out of line, get a lawyer.

If you listen at 3:15 you can hear tires squealing, I wonder who had their foot on the gas pedal?
Sounds like "Dindu" was trying to use his car as a weapon to me.

2 things

1 - at the time of the shot the car was in gear and spinning the tires so he was still trying to drive it into the cop car and he was not blocked in from behind. if he shifted into reverse he would have easily backed out from the 3 cop cars so he was still a threat.

2 - when asked if there was a weapon the cop did not say “no”, he said “no he was trying to ram us with his car”. The full answer identifies that there was a threat that justified the use of deadly force.

I don't this will go anywhere beyond the usual attempt at a payday by the shootie's family.

The Officer clearly needs more range time and harder-hitting ammo. A shot to the bean & the thug is in critical condition? Thug should have met his maker, well there’s still hope.

Most certainly the car is a deadly weapon

It's easy to second guess when you were not there. I'm curious as to how you would have handled the same situation if you were that law enforcement officer.

If you haven't practiced it shooting through a windshield and scoring hits is significantly harder than you would think.

Roll Eyes

Its not the movies. One shot won't necessarily kill a person instantly.

I hear ya mark. I was just being a smart ass. Still, maybe pump a full mag through that windshield. Toe tag for the thug. Smile

16 rounds, I'm assuming an automatic pistol, so it wouldn't go "Click click click"...this isn't the movies Sigmonkey.

It's been all over the news in Atlanta and I must have seen that video 20 times in the last day. I can't see anything wrong with the officers actions.

Why not wait for the original poster to respond as he apparently thinks it was unlawful.

I was taught to stop the threat. If one shot achieves that, great.

I'm confused. You must have been seeing a totally different video.
