Full disclosure, I used to work for BB Corporate.

The installers at the stores run the gamut from exceptional to questionable. And it's not always easy to know which one you're talking to. Some locations are better than others. Don't be afreaid to ask to speak to the department manager or the Lead Tech for the bay.

I have my own style of humor. I call it Snarkasm.

Factory BT? Phone buttons on the steering wheel?
Factory backup camera? If so, on screen or in mirror?
Any rear seat entertainment?

Normally I'd say to trust Crutchfield over BestBuy, but when I look up your truck on Crutchfield it says that radio won't fit, but other double din touchscreen radios will--so they are clearly incorrect about that.

You don't need any particular radio to work with an iPhone, unless you want to upgrade to a CarPlay radio which allows you to use your phone's mapping apps and get text messages through the in-dash screen. For music and phone calls almost any radio will do.

No Bose or navigation.
Has Bluetooth.
Phone buttons on steering wheel.
No rear seat entertainment.
Backup camera viewed in mirror.

I had a car maybe 12 years ago I had Best Buy install a complete new stereo system in for over $1,000.

I pick it up and every single speaker is humming like crazy, I take it back and the tech insists that's how it is and there's nothing he can do.

I immediately take it to an independent shop, the guy takes one listen, listens to my story about the Best Buy guy, shakes his head and installs a $10 power filter and viola! no more humming or noise. From then on, I go to this guy.

I wouldn't trust Best Buy with ANYTHING. They hire hacks and people who have no clue what they are doing. Mad

I think they are trying to scam you into a new system.

A true professional would have searched for the source of the problem and corrected it. Not suppress the noise with a filter.

Any decent HU (Kenwood or Pioneer) with an iDatalink MAESTRO RR to retain your steering wheel controls should get you fixed up.
Might even get your backup camera on screen instead of your mirror.

I'm running a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX with a SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner (currently free with a rebate) in my 2014 Tundra.
It has wireless carplay if that is what you're looking for.
I did my own install.

Been tinkering with car audio since installing my first underdash Pioneer 8=track in my 1967 Ford Fairlane in the late 70s.

I wouldn't let BestBuy touch any vehicle of mine, or buy anything from them for that matter.

If you like your OEM system, you might just want to replace that plug in the dash going to the HU and fix the issue.

And one more thing, if you bought an iPhone charging cable from Bestbuy, you got ripped off.
There many on Amazon with stellar reviews for much less that what you paid BB.

I have worked for BB and other electronics stores that sold car audio as well, and you can't lump everyone in the same basket. As seen in a prev post, it all depends on who you get, you get good and bad everywhere. Just because you go to an independent shop doesn't mean that you are getting good quality either, and the person you call at Crutchfield falls into the same category.

I bought my Alpine for my Titan from Crutchfield using their research.
When it came to replacing or in this case adding an under-seat subwoofer I was curious why a couple models were so far a part price-wise.

So I initiated an online Crutchfield Chat with an "EXPERT"?

What I got was a lot of script reading, delays and a final answer that the "wires inside were better" ???
I just said thank you and hung up.
Then got an email performance survey.
I did not give him a high but a low score.
It pissed off the so called expert that he kept trolling me on email with complaints and other nonsense.

SO it boils down WHO you talk to personally either online or in person such as Best Buy.
Crutchfield has a great data base of info but like any other company people vary.

If you know nothing then you are vulnerable talking to a person - it is a major reason people buy, use and trust the anonymity of the Internet.
Luckily, I have been in this business before and an fairly knowledgeable electronics so I have little tolerance for BS.
YMMV

I've been looking at the Crutchfield site. My old 1999 F-150 cassette doesn't work and we spend a lot of time in my truck now.
All I need is a FM radio with a good receiver and that will play CD's that I can afford.
We seem to be running all over south Louisiana and they radio stations we like are a hit and miss.

Had a warranty issue with Best Buy. They threw up their hands and referred me to the Manufacturer. Zero support, zero help. Please read their reviews before making a decision.

Fondly remember the underdash 8 track players. First installed one in the 62 GMC pickup. Put one in my brother’s 67 Barracuda. Used to go the flea market in Calexico where one could find amazing deals on 8-tracks and tools.

I ordered a 1/8” socket for the circuit board and pulled the radio out. I re-soldered the 4 pins for the Aux input and that fixed the problem. Now we can use the Aux input to listen to audio books. In the meantime I can research and familiarize myself with possible replacements. Found an OEM for a good price but there are lots of options to look at.

[slight drift]

I remember as a kid getting the Crutchfield catalogue in the mail and drooling over just about every page. I wanted to buy one of everything... Smile

Sorry for the delay in responding. In this case Crutchfield is clearly wrong. You need a simple dash kit, an antenna adapter, and you have a few choices in interface modules. Maestro is by far my recommendation, and will give you the best integration and steering wheel control functionality, but it is a bit more expensive than the other options.

If all you want is BT for phone calls and streaming music, you have radio options starting at $100 or possibly less. If you would like a touchscreen, and want the ability to use your phone mapping and some other apps on the new radio, then a CarPlay unit is very nice. BUT, you absolutely don't need that to stream music from your iPhone.

If you get a touchscreen, you can move the backup camera to the new bigger screen, which makes it much easier to see than on the mirror.

Tell me what features you care about and I'll recommend a radio. Or tell me a radio you like and I'll give you the scoop.

One thing not yet mentioned-do you care about having a CD/DVD player, or do you just want to stream music from your phone?

Give me a call or come see me- I can put a nice Sony in that truck, normally $210 plus tax. But that's before your Sigforum discount. Should only take about an hour to do. Call me at the shop, ask for Louis, or email your number and I'll give you a call.

As a former employee of BB...

They are the most soul less, unethical, awful company I have ever been associated with.

With how I was treated, for actually trying to help someone as opposed to screwing a customer for profit margin, I suggest NEVER trust best buy. Their employees are LITERALLY directed to push products that were higher profit margin. I was literally fired for refusing to do so back when I was in college.

And sadly, the douche who did so is still in their corporate as opposed to unemployed, where he should be, or arrested for perjury....

Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."

Best buy sells toaster and vacuum cleaners too. BestBuy over Crutchfield on those. But on the radio, I agree with the others. Smile
