Hey all, this year I have provided CCW classes through my FFL business. I’m getting ready to submit my state sales tax info and I’m not sure if the training provided falls under non taxable income. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume that it is taxable but suggest checking with your state. In my state it would be, no different than hiring a plumber.

In Missouri services are typically not taxable. Each state will be different.

Depends on your state laws. In Commiefornia, training would be considered a service rather than a product and thus not taxable. A quick web search did not make it obvious that Florida was so simple. I did find some guidance: http://floridarevenue.com/Form...current/gt800013.pdf

In Florida, services are not taxable. Now, if you sell any goods with the service at least in Florida, then everything is taxable on the sale. For example CCW class $80, targets $4, total = $84, then the entire sale is taxable. Check with your state.

I’m in Ohio. I tried my tax lady, but she’s on a cruise.

Savor the limelight |
If this doesn't answer your question FAQ: https://www.tax.ohio.gov/faq/t...onID=434&AFMID=11354 I'd call these folks, (888) 405-4039 and ask them. It's the Ohio Department of Taxation, Sales and Use Tax folks. Unlike your tax lady, they're free to talk to.

It would be helpful to know what state we're talking about here... A little late in the game but, did you collect State Sales Tax? ____________________________________________________________ If Some is Good, and More is Better.....then Too Much, is Just Enough !! Excellent answer. This would be a simple question for them. I might add you want to get this straightened out ASAP. DOR's have powerful collection authority. If you own the location where the classes are held, it can be at risk. In Florida, they collect delinquent sales tax with a receipt pad in one hand and a padlock & chain in the other hand; your choice.

YES, best to check your state right away. Most but not all services in PA are taxable. Ohio sales tax handbook ------------------ The plural of anecdote is not data. -Frank Kotsonis

Not sure how I got Florida (FL) from FFL, but my apologies. Check out the rules for your state, whichever one it is.
