My iPhone HotSpot is the sole Internet connection for my laptop. I check data usage every evening. The monthly data allocation has long been 50 GB, but a few days ago I was surprised to see it as 120 GB. The next day it was at 70 GB and has since remained there – still a significant increase from 50 GB.

Several governments have requested Internet service providers to increase data allocations to accommodate folks that have to work from home as a consequence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus epidemic, so I wonder if that’s the reason.

Has anyone else seen such allocation increases?

ATT did the same thing to me several months ago. My data suddenly doubled right before Christmas. No one at ATT could explain it.
It did, however, coincide with an increase n some of the “because we can” charges associated with my bill.

I posted a few days ago I'd received a text message from T-Mobile they were increasing everybody's data allocation to unlimited until May 13th (IIRC).

Must have taken it from me. I'm not a Sprint user, but all morning I've had dropouts. Not a good thing when I'm conducting an online training!

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I use unlimited4glte.com for my hotspots. $75/month unlimited. Works good. A few kinks. I even had a thread complaining recently but they were behind on refreshing. Sometimes it loses connection and they have to refresh. But we use it for television and computers. It's not bad.

These go to eleven.

There is something in the air, My plan with AT&T increased over time from 10 to 15 to 20 to 50. Minimal cost increases over time. I found that it still would be cheaper for us to use Unlimited. What's weird, in the past few months our data speed increased from about 20-25 to this: 2.8 times faster than my cable broadband.
