I'm not very familiar with that part of the state so I had to look it up, but that looks like a pretty tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Not too far from Terre Haute, which is a pretty big place and should have quite a few options for lodging...but you'd be driving.

Crown Point is the location for Dillenger and his famous jail break.

Lots of choices along Rt 30 in Merrillville, not far from Crown Point. If you happen to pick Hampton Crown Point though, you can walk to Off Square Brewing, a place I used to go to often for a great beer and a nice variety of food.

No amusement park in Crown Point.

I think.there is a new one off of 109th ave. on about Delaware st. If you get off of I-65 at Exit 249, 109th Ave. you will be in the general vicinity. There is a Hampton Inn with an address of 10850 Delaware Parkway. It is fairly new so it should be nice.

Anything along 30 is a stones throw from the hood. You can also stay another 8 miles East in Valparaiso. There is all your standards Holiday Inn and such. Off Square is good. There are also a couple of breeeries in Valpo. Four Fathers, Iron Wood and Blockheads.

If you are around on a Friday afternoon/evening, stop by Saint Michael’s in Merrillville, IN for their fish and Pirohi dinners. Hand made pirohi's swimming in enough melted butter/margarine to instantly clog an artery or two. My favorites are the cheese and the kraut & mushroom. You can get them to go or eat them there. Earlier is better, they run out of stuff.

About as old school as you can get and most people working the event are 60-70s++. A tradition that we might not be seeing much longer.

Yeah, Crown Point is quite a different thing altogether from Center Point Big Grin. The locals have pretty well covered it. Just don't go too far north or you'll end up in Gary!

Man, aren't kidding. We used to go to the Star Plaza Theater to see concerts. Last time we were there we stopped at a place on 30 for dinner after the concert. I took a look around and after seeing some of the other patrons and how trashed the place was, I told my wife then that I very much doubt we would be going back. And since they have closed Star Plaza down, we haven't returned. I loved that place. Perfect place to see a concert. Not too big, not too small. I would take Valpos advice. Go just a little further east. You will be fine.

^^^ Yes, I saw several concerts there. It was a great place and very convenient to me. Merrillville is turning bad for sure. The mall is a dangerous place.
