I've seen these at Tractor Supply the past couple times I've been in there, have avoided taking a good look, though I'd be able to consolidate my 3-4 smaller toolboxes into 1 this way.

$499 pretty basic

$899 looks nicer, ball bearing drawers. Online only, so I haven't seen these in person

For my light use, the $499 looks tempting, and they stock them at my local store.

Hit the pawn shops

I got a very nice Kennedy set up from a pawn shop

It was loaded with machinists tools, sold the tools for more than I paid for the box

If doing again, I'd look at the HF.
I went with rolling Husky lower box with multi-drawer upper as well, and flip up top. It's just under 6' tall over all, and has been great. I was going to use up that much floor space, figured the more drawers the merrier. I think I'm in it for about $1K, but that was about 6 years ago.

I have a separate rolling Husky workbench with drawers that has been nice for decent sized work surface, when kept clear.

I forget the brand, but when a buddy of mine finished at UTI, he was looking at these generic looking, but very high quality boxes. They didn't have wheels, so you have to either just set them on the ground, or build a base to raise them, but IIRC you could practically stand in the drawers.
And, they were cheaper than the average Snap-On/MAC/etc tool truck box. Just less glamourous.

He ended up with a Snap-On flip top smaller box, UTI gave them a credit on SO tools & he put it toward the box.

That’s not quite as impressive as it sounds. SnapOn tools are *really* nice, but they are **really** expensive to go along with it. Says the guy who has SnapOn wrenches, sockets, and ratchets, has for over 30 years, and swears by them. Some of their stuff is really awesome and well worth the premium (wrenches and sockets leap to mind) other things (drill bits) come to mind where it seems like you’re paying that premium for little more than the name. If I were looking for tool boxes, I’d be looking hard at Harbor Freight. I have trouble imagining that SnapOn boxes can be that much nicer, even though I have no complaints about the SnapOn top box I bought years ago.

Bought a Husky 56" 22 drawer last year during a great sale. iirc $650, was like $1500. It's a matte blue. They had a red, white and black at the time but cost more. Husky also has a 56" with 18 drawers. 22 has shorter drawers than the 18 version. So depends on your needs/use if taller drawers are needed. They have a 52" that's very popular also. YT helped me choose. Plenty of vids with reviews. I also have a HF 41" ,series 1, I bought around 2013-15, don't remember exactly. Just the bottom box. It's 18" deep I think newer versions are 22" deep. I was thinking of adding a top drawer chest but didn't see a 18" version at the time. Never an issue. Also have their 5 drawer service cart, I think 30", bought at same time as 41" box. Again never an issue. DIY home garage and I wrench my own stuff 99% of the time. HF or Husky for home shop seem about equal. I don't care for the HF drawer release though. Otherwise except for colors and drawer configurations either one will serve a home shop DIY for years.

I upgraded my old 26” Craftsman to a 42” or 46” Craftsman from Lowe’s about 4 years ago for Father’s Day, maybe $700.

Something to keep in mind, you want enough space so you can lay out your tools instead of a crammed in a pile of sockets or wrenches. When I upsized, I didnt get more tools but became much better organized.

Before you buy any tool box try setting a couple of 4 lb. hammers in the center of a large drawer and see if it sags enough to rub on the drawer below when you open and close the hammer drawer.

I have a Snap-On base, a MATCO top box and a Caterpillar branded (SK) intermediate. All bought used from tool truck guys, all in great shape. Tool guys like selling used for instant cash in their pocket.
