A similar conclusion was reached by the authors of this book, which was recommended on this very forum a few months back:

https://www.amazon.com/Danger-...-China/dp/1324021306

Basically, their hypothesis is that China is going to go downhill within 10 years, due to a number of factors (similar to the ones discussed about 1/3 of the way into this video). And China knows it. So if it's going to try to make a major geopolitical/military move, it necessarily must happen within the decade, or they lose their chance for the foreseeable future.

I listened to this guy for about a minute. I don't want to hear someone sit there spewing this doomsday bullshit like they've got it all figured out. His predictions of what will happen to an ancient culture and to much of the world in the next ten years is the kind of horse shit you go back to ten years from now just to have a good laugh.

Just as reliable as AOC predicting that we only have 12 years left. Wait, it's 8 years, now. Lol.

Wondered if he has as accurately predicted their rise, these claims are a dime a dozen.

You are so correct. Rogan has had him on his show a lot lately. If you see the latest comments about this guy knowing nothing we know from elsewhere on the web, that was me. The man thinks he knows all of the world, past, present and future.

Having read a few of his books, he makes a pretty strong case, backed up with demographic data, and historical precedent. But I'm with Yogi on this one, "predictions are hard, especially about the future."

Zeihan appears to be making a pretty good living telling people what they want to hear. "China is fucked, the USA will be OK." Not the first prognosticator to adopt this strategy.

On the opposite side, it was consensus among economists until a couple of months ago, that China will overtake US in GDP/economy within this decade. That consensus is no longer universal, with the projections being pushed out into next decade and beyond, and Japan economists now even predict that China will never overtake the US in this aspect, given their demographic issues.

Zaihan comes across like a know it all and his Youtube postings demonstrate that his projections are full of shock-type / end-of-all-things hype. I lost count of the number of videos he's made that says I warned you, this will happen, we can expect this in the next 2 weeks... yada, yada, yada... and it's all a big miso soup ball.

I'm also dismayed at the number of people who watch Joe Rogan, many of his shows I can sum up in his drawn out catch phrase... "H-u-h"
