spunk639A WWII vet at our local post gave myself and a few others a lot to think about the other night, about our current state of affairs.
Most of us at the local post call him Jake, it’s actually Jacob, he’s 97 or 98, gets around with a walker and a little help, still drinks whiskey, and still sharp as a tack. The conversation had turned the other evening to our disaster in the White House, Russia, China, the border, energy all the usual issues, rational, thinking adults concern themselves with, when Jake spoke up. Old enough to be a grandfather or great grandfather to some of us, he was concerned he thought all of this was a smoke screen, the virus, vaccines, the capitol all of it, he called a show with the only thing missing Clara Bow. Of Polish ancestry and Jewish faith, he’s a lifelong Democrat, don’t hear many kind things about FDR, says don’t believe half the crap you hear how great he was, he thought he owned America, liked Truman, and said today JFK would be a republican, and the way things are now he would be too if he wasn’t turning the last pages. He has said to many at the bar to make sure he stays dead when he dies, don’t want to be voting from the grave.
In his wisdom, or at least what I think is, he believes we are on the verge of a major change here, and not a good one. The fighting over all these issues is leading us to a point of a world order, he laughs at all the global summits; then quips why in the hell did we put the UN in New York if we have to go everywhere else to talk about gas or other malarkey. The old man thinks we’re heading to a world government, where what we’ve had for 200 plus years is gone, he thinks it will be done right under our noses by deceit and corruption. He hasn’t uttered a nice word for Joe and says he’s got 20 on him and can out think him after a fifth of whiskey. In the past he said the Krimson Kenyan reminded him of one of those leaders from Star Trek, in a fantasy world, where there was no opposition or counter opinions. Says we’re not that far away from it. Maybe he’s an old timer lamenting or he’s a sage, either way gives a lot to ponder.

RipleyFor years, I've blamed Roosevelt democrats and their spawn for the country's cartoon understanding of politics. FDR was the first POTUS to have access to mass communication and he messed a lot of minds.

Flash-LBWe won't be included in any New World Order unless we allow it and there are a bunch of us who won't.

nhtagmemberFind out what brand of whiskey he likes, buy him a bottle and shake his hand for me.
I’ll spring for whatever he wants - he’s earned it.

blueyeWhen you look at what is going on here, it's almost like some mini socialist experiment.

GraniteguyIn hindsight we should have taken this more seriously 15 years ago - instead anyone who mentioned this was labeled a loony conspiracy theorist.

This doesn't make sense to me. If he disagrees with the Democrat policies and platforms, why does he stay one? Age doesn't make any difference in changing your position if something is wrong, stupid, evil, etc.

rsboloSadly, and with a full measure of resigned determination, I agree with Mr. Monkey.

Massachusetts, republican votes hold no value, we can vote all we want but the entire republican voter roll is less than 1/3 of registered voters.

cruiser68Yeah I always thought that was lousy when I lived in Massachusetts. Then I moved to Illinois. Enough said. Florida is on the near horizon for me though. I need to offset the east coast liberals that are moving there.
