Need Printer Recommendation
Need a new monochrome laser printer with scan/copy capability. Looked online and could not find what I call a good review. Wondering by if anyone with a Consumers Report subscription could point to the top 2-3 performers?

I am certainly not the authority on printers, but can tell you that I have had several that have given me issues. I switched to Brother products and haven't had a problem since.

I have owned a Brother multi-function printer for years. It runs and runs.

I've had good results with Lexmark Laser
printers. Have to admit to bias because
of previous employment with IBM.

Isn't it amazing. HP used to own the market in the laser arena. Now Brother seem to be the new champion. I have a $80 Brother that duplex prints wirelessly. Generic refills are $20. How can you beat that? While it isn't an all-in-one, It works for me.

Have a Canon all in one laser, a Xerox single side laser which are all excellent products, but my go to printer is my Brother.

I have a 12 yo HP Laserjet 3055 and it still works like a champ. It is on its 2nd high-yield toner, it still scans and copies. But I hear HP has gone down in quality, Brother seems to be the new champ.

Get something with duplex. I'll never do without it again.

I have the Brother MFC-L2470DW. It's an all-in-one Print/Scan/Copy and Fax.

Mine has the Duplex printing and Duplex scanner, but less expensive models can be found with one side scanners.

Can be used wirelessly, but I have mine setup as a network printer, and it's been great.
As stated above, generic toner is dirt cheap, but the genuine Brother toner isn't terribly expensive either.

I've printed everything from regular cheap copy paper to card stock and labels, and it's only jammed once on me (and that was my fault for forgetting to select the right paper type in the print menu).

If this one dies (had it for 3 years now) I'll go buy another Brother to replace it.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

When my color ink-jet printer died, I came to the conclusion that I really didn't need color and that a cheaper to operate monochrome laser printer would suit me best as a retiree.

Ended up with an inexpensive Brother DCP-L2540DW which does the trick. It is an all-in-one with both wireless and duplex capabilities.

Recently when breathing new life into an old laptop with Linux Mint replacing XP and an SSD for a failing HDD, I changed the printer configuration to network with WiFi to serve both my Win10 Desktop and the laptop. Works like a champ. Big Grin

Another vote for Brother. I’ve been using a color laser of theirs for at least three years without an issue.

Did someone mention Brother? We had a HP Officejet pro . piece of shit. It worked, but very high maintenance. Expensive ass ink. After the move we did some research and got a Brother all in one MFC-J6935DW. Not a laser, but ink is cheaper. Performs great. It's on the home wi-fi network. Found out after our purchase, a family member & 2 friends had switched from HP to Brother also. Going on 2 years performance with no problems from what they said.

I also recommend Brother for office printing. Trouble free printing, good software, and the hardware seems long lasting. I've had 3 or 4 of their larger MFC multi-function printers, and the scan/copy functions are really very good--not just a cheap afterthought. I currently use a Brother Multi-function as my main office scanner.

For photo printing, I like Canon--but I tend to take my photo printing to Costco these days.
