With a few weekends to go, this record is in the can.

Yes, we all knew what the records was for, and there are records in cities all across the country for 2021, but did you know that in Chi town, the perpetrators are the same guys that got Juicey Smollet?

Our Mayor in Baton Rouge is from Chicago and she's doing a good job of setting homicide records

It never really bothered me from the beginning. I've seen and been around a few extremely graphic deaths before becoming the Police (Marine Corps). I was somewhat desensitized to it, I guess...

The first one as a rookie on my first day on the street, everyone wants to see what the new kid is made of... "Hey Kid, see if he's got any ID on him". I went through his pockets, rolled him over, found his wallet in the pocket of his inner pair of pants (dude was wearing 2 pairs of jeans), and gave the wallet to the cop who had the paper. This was 1995. Only regret now is that we didn't use rubber gloves back then. This is the time where Beat Cops also put the bodies in the body bag and took them to the morgue.

I don't know how many I've dealt with between then and now. Easy- a few hundred. Yeah, there's some that stick out in my head... The kids always suck. The ones that have been there for a while ain't all "happy-happy, joy-joy" to deal with.

Here's the kicker-
I'm not a Homicide Detective.

Talk to those guys! The Detectives that have worked the South or West side for years... Thousands in a career.

Seems like a bad trend with Chicago politicians. Trash, all trash.

These are the ones the powers-that-be can’t reclassify as something other than homicides.

Chicago Magazine is pretty worthless, but they had an eye-opening expose a few years ago detailing how the City administration pressured the CPD to classify some deaths as “undetermined” so they wouldn’t add to the homicide count.

Didn't know if I should post this here or in Riots in America thread, or start a new one. Anyone know if this is just a coincidence or is there a new Thug Life game out there?

This last weekend in St. Louis, a public bus driver was shoot while driving down the street and the shot came from outside the bus:

KMOV Metro Bus Driver Shot

Then in Chicago, a bunch of juvenile thugs attacked and beat a bus driver:

The question now becomes how the City Leaders, Activists, Press handles this: Do they:
1. Just mention in passing, and say reforms are needed next year (basically ignore as they have been doing)
2. Use it as anti-gun political stand w/no real plan,
3. Never waste the proverbial crises, call for reforms, bait, bicker, blame on everyone but those who are to blame, and still end up do nothing, or,
3. Actually focus on the real issues, which are not a quick fix, and break the long tradition of ignoring Chicago interracial violence? (this would be sarcastic, but its so sad and cynical, it isn't)

1,2,3 are all functionally the same, yes.

Question: Is there any person in this country personally responsible for the deaths of more black folks than Lori Lightfoot? I don't know of anyone even close. If only Indiana had tighter gun laws, none of this would be happening. Roll Eyes

Chicago is not alone. Others are breaking records too.

ETA: Murders are easy to track, but DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHER CRIME IS HOLDING STEADY.

People aren't reporting property crime any more. Just not worth it to sit on hold for 45 min and then nothing happens, nobody shows up, etc.

So, because it's not reported, guess what, the mayor gets to say that property crime has not increased. problem solved.

Depending on where you're at, 007 stops at California and further up to Kedzie.
That's just Geography. The bad thing is the Rhodes Scholars in Englwood are now somewhat more nomadic and ventures out past their old boundaries. As well as the Cancer Cure-rs from the West side.

They are the ones committing the crime downtown, River North, Lincon Park, Beverly and Mt Greenwood.

Everyone is looking at the "800" number, not saying that 800 isn't a lot, but you need to really look beyond the 800:

Shot & Killed: 755 <----
Shot & Wounded: 3549 <----
Total Shot:4304 <----

755 dead from just gunshot wounds.
3549 people have extra holes in them from gunfire. 4304 total.
4304? That's a lot of people!

It's 2021. Think about all the advancement in medical technology and treatment, all of the knowledge coming out of the Combat Dr's & Nurses in Iraq and Afghanistan for gunshot/puncture/traumatic wounds.

If this was back in the 90's, that 755 today would be at least 850!
The Dr's and Nurses in places like Christ, Northwestern, U of Chicago, Stroger are the ones that are really keeping the murder rate down.

I have a Doctor friend who interned in Cooke County. He said there a contest between surgeons on how long it took a surgeon to pull a pound of metal (aka bullets) out of human bodies. One guy working a long week did it in 6 days 11 hours. My friend said after that, no one wanted to try and break the record.

Well, let's see. A pound is 7000 grains.

Probably your average gang banger shoots a 9MM because it's the most popular cartridge in use these days.

So that'd be 7000/124 = 56.45 bullets or around 8 a day for the one guy.

I agree that Lori is less than useless however the real problem is Kim Foxx the States attorney, if you don't lock the offenders up you have accomplished nothing.
She was RE-ELECTED about a year ago in the midst of the crime spree, Her margin of victory was about 300,000 votes.
The problem is the fucking people that vote for these worthless politicians, over and over, and over again.
Even now the "citizens" don't have a clue.
HOPELESS!

Accurate for sure! What happened in that gang shootout??? Oh yeah, Foxx didn't charge anybody because it was "mutual combat". She won't charge anybody unless she is told to charge somebody. You can get caught as a convicted felon with a firearm and be out before dinner!

CWB Chicago (https://cwbchicago.com/) has an ongoing series highlighting folks who are arrested for violent felonies while free on bond for other felonies.

Back at UIC, one of the professors who was an assistant states attorney told us this around 2003 or so. Said if you get shot, you want to get sent to a hospital where they have experience Big Grin
