Traumatized dog finds a home, and couldn't ask for a better owner
Poor thing. Damn.
A happy outcome, though

I wonder how she got so terrified.

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to withdraw from the world and live on a farm catering to traumatized animals. If I could afford it, that's exactly what I would do.

We have one that reminds me a bit of her. He has come a long, long way and is great around us. But is pretty shy of most people. He trust's only a very few people. Great outcome for her. Animal abuse is terrible.

Wow, that really helps restore your faith in humanity! What a great guy to take on such an almost impossible task.
I have fostered a lot of rescue dogs over the years, many from abusive homes, its wonderful to see them placed in their new home and see them become a star !

VERY happy outcome for Blossom, thanks for sharing.

Dust storm!
A couple months ago we took in a rescue pup from down on the northern neck of VA. Really still a puppy that had been found and turned into the pound.
Great puppy, loves us to death.

We think alike on this. This is exactly what I said I'd do in that "If I won the lottery " thread some time back.
BTW, about a year and a half ago we inherited an unwanted tiny-little girl dog with the same issues. She was frightened of everything, especially loud noises. She hid under our bed, shaking, and would only eat out of our hand. She has since found her joy in life & gave us the same in the process. You could't ask for a more loving dog.

My SIL adopted one exactly like this, several years ago. Poor fella always ran into her bedroom and hid under the bed shaking, at the first sight of strangers. Took the longest time, but he eventually mellowed out. Yeah, animal abusers are simply despicable.

What amazes me is how most dogs, no matter the hell they went through, can become such loving and happy creatures when given a chance.

It's awesome to see the transformation. People who abuse animals are the lowest form of humanity.
We had a major breakthrough in the past 2 weeks. My wife's father passed away last summer and we took in his little dog. He was very sad and scared, it was heartbreaking seeing how the little guy was grieving. He wouldn't play at all - he just wanted to find a quiet corner and hide. The problem is that we have a cattle dog and a Cocker already and the cattle dog does not like other dogs...at all. On top of that we were in the process of selling our home and packing to move.
We had to keep them separated in the house - they couldn't be in the same room at first. It took weeks to be able to have them in the same room, but separated. Weeks turned into months and we moved. Slowly but surely Gunner (the cattle dog) began to accept that the little guy was not going to go away. He finally began to tolerate Jackson and before long they were playing together.
Anyone who says that dogs don't grieve don't know what they are talking about.
Now Jackson loves to play with Gunner and loves going around town with my wife and daughter. He is finally happy again and is a full member of his new pack.

I give kudos to the guy, I wouldn't have had the patience to work that hard for that long.
The best pet's I've ever had were either dropped on my door step or we adopted from a shelter.
My current rescue mutt took about 2 weeks before I could touch her. Now my wife, she took to her from day one. Now she wont leave me alone and I have to walk around the little shit

Its simply amazing what dogs are capable of if given a chance. Even those who've had horrible experiences can shed them and become wonderful additions to any home. It pains me terribly to think of all the wonderful dogs that are euthanized every year because people refuse to spay/neuter their dogs, while hateful, worthless, people roam the country picking up their almost endless government checks and services. Maybe we could reverse that paradigm?
