I have 5 grand kids ranging from 4 to 10. 4 boys and a girl. All they ever want for birthdays and Christmas are more Legos. Each of them must have 20 different sets of these magic bricks but want more.

Recently, the 7 year old pulled a couple of his loose teeth to get enough backing from the 'tooth fairy' to buy a small set he saw at Walmart. That's commitment.

They love to build them, take them apart and rebuild them.

Legos is a very interesting private company building a very quality product.

Both of my boys spent hours when they were younger building big complex Lego projects. Some are still displayed in the rooms and the den.

The plural of Lego is Lego.

My son would wait until the day after Christmas to get a set half price..

Dr's now have a new scale for pain. How much does it hurt on a scale of one to stepping on a Lego?

When my kid was into Lego, so were my cats. Late at night and every night, the sound of Legos being batted around on the tile floor was heard.

I'm too old to have played with Lego® bricks. I had to make do with Lincoln Logs®, Tinker Toys®, and a metal construction set (not name brand Erector®).

One day I will show my 10 year old son the opportunity cost of his LEGO sets vs if he had bought a nice mutual fund. I did find out my yellow castle set from when I was his age is “rare” ish.

Once they get enough parts, show them that all of the plans are online. My kids have build many a set that they don't own only because they had basically every necessary part. We have a trillion of them. I used to hate the standard "Legos" answer to what would you like for Christmas/Birthday. But now that they are older, it's something I miss. An easy no-fail gift that always pleases for a reasonable price.

The only thing known to the human race that is worse than stepping on a LEGO in the dark is Barbie high heels! Those little gems will bring a grown 6' 1" 220 lb. man to his knees and almost to tears in about a millisecond when they are unexpected. Especially hidden in 1970's shag carpet!

Had Legos for years.

Built stuff when I was a kid, now the nephew is hooked on them too. I still have an old Lego Volkswagen and Cortina. Even the clear case/garage they came in.

Interestingly, when I was doing the IT thing, we had a competition to build a vehicle out of Legos. The restrictions were:

must have four wheels

able to turn left and right

fully independent suspension with anti-roll mechanism

1 inch ground clearance

able to disengage drivetrain from chassis internally

must be powered and controlled with one single motor. no other magnets/electronic devices allowed.

How do I remember these specs so well? It took about a month to build this little PITA. That and the part where mine ran on three wheels and the fourth one was tacked on to the back of it didn't go over well. What did go fine was the thing through the obstacle course. Took a lot of head scratching on that one. I didn't want to see another Lego for about 12 years...

I've catalogued all my grandson's Lego sets. There are over 10,500 pieces. I figure when he's done with them I will put the lot of pieces on eBay and say you can build the following sets: _____

I love that series! It’s been great watching them with my kids.

Some of my favorite memories with my son involve his love for Legos. It was a bittersweet moment when he got old enough to build them alone without my help. I was proud of him but a little sad too.

I have four Sons. They loved to play with Legos. We had a huge box of Legos and the boys Grew Older and my wife told a friend we would sell them to her for $50. When I heard this I said no will save them for our grandchildren. Now my adult children come home and spread those Legos out on the floor in the living room and spend the rest of their vacation building things with their children. Don't sell them when your kids outgrow them, hold on to them. They're the gift that keeps on giving.
