Dishwasher related.....

Maytag Performa
Model #PDB1600AWE

I would imagine this dishwasher was installed OEM when the house was built circa 2003. The last several times I've run a load, it seems I have to push somewhat hard on the door to get it to latch/lock...sometimes close to slamming it. Once closed, the dishwasher runs fine and cleans my dishes well. Beyond the door, I have no real issues.

Just curious what would be causing this and if it's an easy fix. Thanks!!!

Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I'm not an appliance expert but sounds like a defective latch to me. Razz

Some Shot
Our GE has a fitting on the rear of the upper rack that has to fit into an opening in the rear wall so that the door can close. If yours has that kind of situation maybe it isn't lining up.

First thing I'd look for is counter top or cabinet interference. Wood swells, Formica counter tops are applied over chip board. Look for an impingement.

Next, look to see that the gasket is in the groove in the tub all the way around. It is just a press fit. There are also 2 rubber fittings at the bottom of th egasket that may have popped up.

Finally, I believe you can adjust the latch tension on this model. You should be able to look up and see the 5/16" bolt. loosen it a bit and you can move the tab in or out to adjust it.
