That is pretty much a canister version of our backpack vacuum.

They do a great job on our wood floor. Our issue is it just does not have the ability to effectively clean the rugs, and carpets.

A carpet head is an option. Expensive just like all of it.

My wife and I are very happy with our Kirby. The retail price on these is high but we found a top of the line unused unit on one of the auction sites for under $400 delivered. They rate very well for suction power and pet hair removal. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned so far in this discussion. It may be the most expensive of the vacuums.

I buy HEPA bags for it on Amazon, and it's the 5th house I've had it and pretty much every flooring product out there (carpet, throw rugs, tile, marble, wood, engineered wood, etc). It's not the quietest, but it cleans well.

When I was a dumb ass and plugged mine in after it had been in a -7F shipping container for several weeks I replaced it with another Hoover Wind Tunnel with Bag.

Which model number, please? Hoover makes several Wind Tunnel bsgged vacuums.
Hoover WindTunnel Max UH30600 vacuum cleaner is currently the highest rated of the series. It’s #4 on bagged upright and only one under $200 (top 3 were $350, $550, and $200 {Kenmore Pet Friendly 31140}).

If you can justify the expense, I would suggest that you investigate installing a whole-house vacuum. Typicallyy, the motor and bag live outdoors, e.g. ina carport or attached shed, and vacuum lines are installed in the walls leading to ports in rooms on all floors. All you drag from room to room is the flexible hose and head attachments. The two years I lived with one of these (a rental house), "doing the vacuuming" was so much easier than one is used to that the roommates contended for the chore.

The location of the head unit made it possible to use one that generated far more suction than anything one has to carry around, think 5 to 10 times the airflow.

If that isn't an option, the Dyson Animal has been solid for me, but the wife complains that it is heavy.

Spendy? Yep, but it works.

This is the best I have ever used and we also have dogs and cats. It is a bagless unit though and the OP wants bagged.

When we first bought the Animal we did a test. We vacuumed one room with our old vacuum. Then we re-vacuumed with the Animal. We were AMAZED at how much hair and crap it pulled out AFTER running the old one through it.

Well, I had a choice. Buy a Miele Kona/Marin at 1k, riccar at 1k, Or buy a ruger 85 with 6 mags, hk mk23 with 6 mags, and a 8lb powrflite commercial vacuum for 2500 (221 for the vaccum) with extra bags and belts.

I have had one in the past and it last 10 plus years. I could not bring my self to add another 800 on top of it.

Here is the model.

https://www.powr-flite.com/pro...m.do?sortby=ourPicks

Like i said I used this model in the 90's and early 2000's at work, I won one at a trade show and had it for 10 years at home. I just works every time, unless your mother in law gets ahold of it. Wife was estatic to have one back. We will keep the Back pack for the wood floors, and this for the rugs and carpet. It is light enough for Charms to use, and my kids. Though I do 99% of the vaccuing. The trade off is i get two new pistols.

Thank you all for the help. My second choice was the Miele Marin, We have realy loved our miele products in the past.

For those of you that are looking. Take a look at the CRI page and their approved lists. I spent years repairing damage from bad vacuums. Hell, Those repairs paid for my first 2 homes. So, don't go looking :P

Central vacuum is the best by far.

Windsor Sensor XP

My staff runs this 6+ hours daily with over 3 years on them. That's significant use. Cord is 40' BTW.

We purchased a Sebo about 15 years ago and it is still going strong. We keep it upstairs for the 1600 square feet up there. We've went with a cheaper model (hoover, eureka, shark) for the downstairs and have went through about 6 of the cheap ones while the Sebo just keeps working.

I think it meets your criteria...

^ I agree.

Not really what the OP asked for, but I've been more than happy with my 2 Shark vacuums.

A corded one for weekly work, a cordless one for quick jobs.
We have 3 dogs, 2 that shed like a MF'er.
These Sharks have done a great job.

Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away Upright Vacuum

Shark Navigator Freestyle Cordless Stick Vacuum

I just blow out the filters once a month with the air compressor..

I don't know if it's the best, but I recently scored a like new Kirby Avalir with all accessories off of Craigslist for $100.00. Older woman bought it, used it twice, and decided it was too heavy.

I grew up on a farm on a gravel road. Always had multiple indoor pets. My entire family has great luck with Filter Queen canister vacuums. I got mine, used, on eBay.

We love having the HEPA filter; and the Miele is strong and quiet, with a nice retractable cord.
No experience with robot vacs.

I have a Miele small cannister vaccuum. Pricey but a fantastic vacuum.

We have had Dysons for years, the wife loves them for their ease of steering.

Then we bought a Riccar (the one with two motors and the dirt sensor lights). Wife has 3 cats and our grandkids have allergies. One day I dumped the Dyson canister and then vaccumed with the Dyson and then ran the Riccar with a new bag in it.

The Riccar picked up more stuff than the Dyson had.

There is no comparison, Riccar by far.

Well, the vacuum arrived on Friday. It was in a thin flat pack box. The upper part of the handle was separate from the lower suction section. 3 screws (i added a washer to 1) and a vacuuming I went. It does a bang-up job. It has a nice long 50' cord. easy to get on and off bags. It handles the area rugs we have with ease. Our other upright is also a power flite model, it is their dual motor 26lb monstrosity. While it sucks everything, it is prone to overheating when vacuuming on wool rugs. It just overworks the motor on whatever setting you have it. This new model is everything the family wanted. 8lbs lightweight, simple and durable.

Thanks all for the help.
