When my immune system was in the dumper last October after 4-1/2 months of “regular” chemo, I had a flare-up of Plantar warts. Saw my family doc, he prescribed an acid compound that didn’t take care of them.

Went through my high-dose chemo, stem cell transplant, and radiation thinking that maybe those suckers would die off. Nope. To make things worse, my stem cell team advised against any additional treatments until my immune system was improved.

Finally, I have an appointment for next Tuesday to let the doc have another go at them.

The only other warts I’ve had were a couple on my right wrist as a kid. Had them burned out.

These sumbitches HURT! Some days the best I can do is to limp on the balls of my feet.

Pretty common in high school days, acid treatment and they fell off.

Last one I picked one up the only time that I forgot my shower flip flops while on the road selling GM Performance Parts from 11-14.

That was several trips to a Podiatrist.

Used to have a bad one on the ball of my foot.
Then I got a wart on a finger. I used a product called Vergo on it,and it went away. Amazingly, the one on my foot went away at the same time, without any application of product, and has never returned in all these years.

So of course it appears they took the product off the market, as I have never found it again, and it actually works. As far as I can find out, the active ingredient was a vitamin B5 complex (pantothenic acid) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) . And it was non-caustic.

Knock on wood, but haven't had any since college.

The last time, I worked out and showered at the co-rec, but forgot my shower shoes. A few weeks later, a half dozen plantars warts pop up on my feet. I sucked it up and got through exams, and then headed to a different state for my internship. It was ideal as a podiatrist was across the street from the office where I interned. However, I made the idiotic decision to walk to the appointment. Son of a bitch did that hurt walking back to the office, and even worse it was a busy 4 lane road with a turn lane and traffic had picked up so I couldn't walk cross the road gingerly.

It's been 20+ year since I was a college student and I still remember that.

Been using straight tea tree oil every night on mine, and it seems to not hurt as bad. Maybe it is gonna kill the thing.

I have a good solution for these but it's messy;

Take a razor blade and cut the top layer off the wart. It'll probably bleed a lot so do it on a Friday night so you'll have the weekend for it to stop.

Walk around on it for another week and repeat. The idea is for your foot pressure to eventually force the root of the wart to the surface. You'll eventually get it.

It works. Cutting the thing down reduces pain considerably.

I'm pretty sure this treatment is no longer used but when I was a kid and had several at once, the local X-ray clinic blasted them twice through a lead plate with a small hole in it. A couple of weeks and they dried up and fell off. Worked very good and painless but 50's treatments are probably not best practice.

I got the freeze treatment this morning. Have a follow up in two weeks to either call it good or a second treatment.

Had an Army doctor recommend duct tape.

“How to use duct tape to get rid of warts

To use this remedy:

Apply a small piece of duct tape directly to the area of your wart and go about your day.
Once every three to six days, remove the duct tape and rub the wart with an emery board or pumice stone. You may also consider soaking the wart in warm water while it’s exposed.
Replace the duct tape with a new piece after 10 to 12 hours of air exposure.
This process is called “duct tape occlusion,” and it should remove the wart, layer by layer. It may take several weeks for this method to fully get rid of a wart.”
