I have been following the Aldi finds weekly, stuff they come out with that are pretty much temporary finds. There are people online who review the stuff and announce what things they will be offering. A few weeks ago I read an article on how the propane mini "Blackstone" grill they had was a great buy so I picked it up. It needs some type of table to rest on and it takes the small 1 pound propane tanks (which I fill myself), but for $49 it has worked well for my wife and I.

They recently offered an Ambiano Electric travel cooler for $49. It is a small cooler run by 120VAC or 12VDC. I found one at my local store and bought it. It is pretty lightweight, seems a bit fragile, but it cools down to 40 degrees. It will be sufficient to use on road trips. Its also hearts up but I doubt I will ever use that function. You can precool on 120VAC and then plug it in to 12VDC in your vehicle. It comes with a 2 year warranty so I will see how it holds up.

They have sporadic deals that are worth buying, much cheaper than the name brand stuff. Just wondering if anyone else buys things other than food at Aldi.

My dad is always telling me about German food he finds there; I didn’t realize they did small appliances like those, sounds like just the ticket for summer!

I shop there almost exclusively, I say almost cause you need to realize some things will be out of stock when you go,

to me, the Canned Corn and frozen suck,

when you can find the English Cod Fish n Chip or Scottish Haddock meals in the box, grab them, they are delicious

they do a good bit of GF foods too, some they have every day, some are seasonal, and most are pretty good

I have had good luck with the quality in the meat section too

I like the Aldi Finds section as well. We had gotten doormats, rechargeable fans, and some casual shoes for my wife. I like the Stollen Kuchen (German fruit cake) during Christmas.

Our younger son took us to a Lidl grocery store in North Carolina when we visited him recently. They are also a German grocery store, like Aldi, but bigger. They also have a "finds" section.

I always get my Gluhwein there in the winter, They also have good frozen pretzels. Only thing I am not too enthused about at Aldi are the fruits/vegs they can be hit or miss.

My wife just picked up a set of 6 Orca pickleballs at Aldi!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

My wife shops about 75% of our weekly groceries from Aldi and the rest from a local supermarket chain called Giant but Giant's prices are getting out of hand this past year or more so it's less and less there and more and more at Aldi.

We love all the staples to be had at good prices comparative to other supermarkets; flour, sugar, eggs, milk, cheese, cereal, pasta etc.

Their produce CAN be iffy as had been mentioned, and we have given up on ever buying bananas from them as they will go from slightly green to bad in a day or two it seems. I read up on it and supposedly they store them in walk-ins which is the worst thing you can do to bananas.

I also love their German chocolates and chocolate bars, they are really good and not expensive. Kind of bummed that they recently changed their German Roast coffee and it's not the same anymore so I switched to Gevalia which the old stuff was very much like.

My SOP when picking up a couple things is to first grab a box then get what I need. The wife now orders online and they bring it right out to the car for you which is nice when you are the Mom to 3 very active little kiddos.

I wonder how the fact that Aldi bought the Southestern Grocers chains Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket will affect their business. These are larger stores than the Aldis I have been to. Will they use their business model in these larger stores or switch it up for them?

I started the keto diet a couple weeks ago so I am picking up things here and there from them (they are on my way home from work so it is easy to go in and get out of there in 10 minutes).

I avoid the produce, but they had some Atlantic salmon (on cedar boards) on sale and had that Friday. They had some baby back ribs on sale a while back and those were good.

Trying to find meat products with no sugar is sometimes an issue. One of my breakfast items I rotate eating is Mexican chorizo (with eggs). HEB in Texas carries some good beef chorizo and I tried the Aldi brand and it was just as good (and I think cheaper).

I can’t eat sugar now, but they occasionally had apple and cherry strudel that was frozen. Those things were great.

Also, they sometimes have pretzels made with cassava that taste just like real pretzels. They are very good but I have not seen them in weeks now.
