No, I haven't recently logged into my iPhone. The notification doesn't tell me what to next. Should I just change my Apple ID password?

If you have more than one Apple device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) you will get this message after one of them has received a major update.
Changing your Apple ID password is not a bad idea, but you'll have to change it on all your devices...
(I have multiple Apple devices, and get this message on all of them when one -- usually a Mac -- has received an update and has rebooted as a result).

I got a pop up the other night that my iPad was in use in some foreign country. I did not allow it then went and changed my Apple ID password. Between the spoofed phone calls, the phishing emails, and now this...almost makes me want to toss all the electronics. At least anything connected to the ‘net. But these days, what good is a stand alone anything?

I changed my password so all should be good. I need an Apple ID, iClouds and iTunes for dummies book so I can figure out how they all interact with each other.

When you log into your appleid account you should be able to see a list of devices registered to your appleid. Remove any devices (if any) that you do not recognize.

I had the same happen
When I went to the App Store it showed there was another account attached to it when I looked at the purchased apps and family sharing turned on, which I never did
Took 3 phone calls 2 with engineering. They were able to get deep into the account. It was 1 domestic which was linked to an Asian account. All they got were games. After about 2 weeks the linked account was removed and my account back to normal again
In all the entire experience was very positive talking with all of the Apple people

I got one of those scam messages too. To add to the confusion I just activated a iPad yesterday, there were records of my legitimate contacts in my regular email and the suspicious one was automatically directed to the Spam folder.
Checked the email address, was not legit Apple communication. Deleted.
I checked the Apple devices listed to me, all were legitimate.
Scamming b*******.

The message the OP is describing is a pop up on the screen, not an email. It is normal, as already mentioned, after an update. Also when activating a new device. I get it when I fire up a macOS VM for the first time, also.
