It came in earlier than expected. I've got to say coming from an iPhone 7, this is a pretty significant upgrade for me. I was very leery of the face ID feature but damn, it is near perfect. Just a slight glance at the phone from any reasonable angle and distance opens that sucker up immediately. I went with the pro vs the 11 because I like the somewhat smaller size and T-Mobile had an attractive trade in program. It's fast, has a really nice display and I'm now getting a lot better reception at my house than I did with the iPhone 7. I'm still learning my way around it but so far, I'm really liking it. I have an iPhone 5S (yep Dad's phone is old - the rest of the fam has 7+, 8+ and XR) and it is starting to become unreliable in several aspects. I've gotten more than my money's worth from this phone but it is time to get a new phone. An 11 can be had for $700, but the camera on the 11 Pro (and Pro Max) makes it an attractive option. Because it supposedly has a decent zoom I can use it to record my children's sporting events and other family photography / videography insteading of packing along our 'good' camera gear. I just saw a review of the 11 on tv and apparently the ios 13 operating system has a few serious bugs, and to not load it until 13.1 is released which they said is expected this week. __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

What bugs are they talking about? I installed iOS v 13 on my iPhone X and I have no problems at all. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

iPhones have very good cameras. The three cameras of the iPhone 11 Pro will be a nice feature for you. I saw one review that said the iPhone 11 Pro has optical zoom. Certainly incorrect, but maybe Apple composts images from multiple cameras to get something close to optical zoom quality. Serious about crackers

The iPhone camera has had optical zoom since 6, I think. 2x optical zoom in 7. I've had my 11 Pro Max since Friday but haven't really looked at it much beyond setting it up for everyday life. I don't do photography so I dont really care about the camera. It seems like the perfect size, at least to my taste. Slips into a pocket without issue and can also ride in a shirt pocket if you're careful not to bend over and let is slip out. I would have went with the 11, but after handing that size I liked the smaller version better. More money of course but there are other features that help offset that cost premium. Seeing some decent trade in deals. $400 for my X. Trying to decide if it is worth it.

Congratulations on the new phone. We got our family iPhone XRs last Tnanksgiving, and we're in a 3 year contract. We are super happy with the XR. I too was leery of having face ID at first, but since I'm using Apple Pay as much as I can, I want my purchases as secure as I can. The ONLY things that interests me in the iPhone 11 line are the cameras, but not enough to upgrade early. Retired Texas Lawman

Fox & Friends had a 'technology expert' on the show recently, and talked about some of the non-security flaws of this operating system some of which are highlighted in article linked in the post just above. Some of the bugs were benign in nature, but some of the other bugs seem to have matters related to security issues. Here is another article in Forbes that discusses some of the flaws. __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy."

Digital zoom, yes. But optical zoom? I don’t think so, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong. Do you have a URL that would convince me? Serious about crackers

The 11 has three lenses one is a telephoto lens and they call using that "optical zoom"to 2X, it also has a wide angle lens and they call that optical zoom to .5X.

My wife has a 6 Plus and I have a X. I’m going to upgrade to the 11 pro and pass down my X to my bride. She only uses her phone for calls, email and crap book. I use my expensive Nikon less as the iPhone cameras continue to improve. This message has been edited. I have an iPhone SE, waiting for SE2! Hope they come out with an updated small phone. Face recognition? What happens if someone holds it so if views your face? As in you don’t want it unlocked? Just curious.

Wait, what? |
Unless holding a gun to your head, closing your eyes or scrunching up your face or slitting your eyes so you can just barely see will defeat the ability. I've tried to do it with a "sleep face" with eyes shut and it will not work. An interesting sidebar- the feature will work even with sunglasses on, but again, eyes must be open. Or more accurately, at least one eye must be. The camera can evidently penetrate mirrored shades such as my polarized Costa's. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I don’t know who “they” are, but that’s a new definition of “optical zoom”. Serious about crackers

My Xr will open with my Maui Jim’s & Costa's, but not a pair of Ray Ban’s that are mirrored. Slightly annoying.

The only iPhones with optical zoom (telephoto lens) are the ones with dual/triple cameras in the back. The iphone 6 plus had optical image stabilzation, if that is what you meant?
