'God and 2nd Amendment': NASCAR Legend Richard Childress Fires Shots At Robbery Suspects

http://www.wfmynews2.com/news/...y-suspects/501159382

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Three masked men attempted to break into the home of NASCAR Legend Richard Childress.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said the men tried to enter Childress’ home Sunday night just before 10:30 p.m. A window was broken beside a door knob on the lower level of the home which activated an alarm.

nvestigators said Childress armed himself and fired shots at the three robbery suspects. Sheriff Grice said it does not appear that any of the suspects were injured before getting away.

Sheriff Grice said due to the NC Castle Doctrine a person has the right to defend themselves against this type of intrusion.

Childress told Grice that he felt, “the only reason he and his wife were here today was because of God and the Second Amendment.”

If you have any information call the Sheriff’s Office or Detective Sgt. Marc Hanna at 336-242-2100.

Childress is offering a $10K reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.

Kind of surprised he missed. Don't mess with RC.

Childress was involved in a physical altercation with fellow Camping World Truck Series owner and current driver Kyle Busch following the Truck race on June 4, 2011. . . . Childress reportedly approached Busch in the garage area, took off his jewelry (a gold watch) and proceeded to punch Busch in the face. The fight was broken up and insults were exchanged before Childress put Busch in a headlock and hit him again. Wikipedia

All part of the show at a NASCAR race. Smile

FWIW, Richard Childress, NRA board member and vice-president. Not a good prospect for a robbery.

I wonder why he missed. Was he nervous, did not train, or?? Those burglars are lucky they did not end up like the OK group earlier this year.

The title is wrong. They were not "robbery suspects", they were "home invaders". The headline implies a far less threatening situation than the story describes.

Since the intruders left and his family is uninjured, I'm glad for him that he missed.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I met Richard about 3 years ago. As I shook his hand, i asked him if this was the hand he punched Kyle Bush with and he said yes and grave it an extra squeeze! Any man that punches Kyle Bush is a friend of mine!

What is with all the second guessing? Not a single one of you guys has been in the man's house, nor knows the particular position of the players at the critical moment in this scenario. How can you then render any judgement on shot placement? You cannot, plain and simple.

Why did he miss??? You guys are actually asking this, as if there's no way he could have/should have missed?? How could you possibly know that??

Snap out if it. To call this silly is an understatement.

I am inclined to lock this thread. As a matter of fact...
