That reminds me of an old Richard Pryor joke about a young boy in school telling the class about his brother. It went something like this:

Little Johnny: My brother went to Vietnam and he got shot in the ass!

Teacher: Don't say "ass", Johnny. Say "rectum".

Little Johnny: Wrecked'im? Hell, it nearly killed him!

The guy who loads the rounds has a green shirt and the guy who pulls the trigger has a blue/black shirt.

so he had no idea if there were live or training rounds in the gun, that's on him.

As far as I am concerned, even if they had been training rounds, he is gone from that range. And should be banned from being a judge or trainer anywhere.

It's very questionable whether he was a real judge at all. They were all wearing fake vests, at an event not sanctioned by the real Polish Sports Shooting Association.

His injuries were not life-threatening
^^^^^
This phrase is used way too much in news stories. Yeah he is not dead but will be physically impaired for the rest of his life. I guess the use of the word, cripple is out of style.

Maybe I have a jacked up attitude, but while I feel one should appropriately use the safety on firearms equipped with one, it seems like they are almost irrelevant if one doesn’t screw the pooch with the four fundamental rules of firearm safety:
1) Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded. (Or, to think about it another way, the next three rules *always* f****** apply, even if you know the gun is unloaded.) Don’t do stupid shit with a gun because you think it is unloaded.
2) Never allow the muzzle to cover anything that you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger and surgically attached to your safety spot on the frame until you have made a conscious decision to fire,
4) Always be aware of your foreground, background, and anyone/anything that may enter your line of fire.

I saw a bumper sticker this morning that said, “New Orleans - We put the FUN in Funeral. That may be true, but the “judge” in that video put the DUMB in Dumbf***.

"Suddenly, the gun fired..." Guns will do that when you pull the trigger.

Another example of journalists not knowing what they are talking about.

Yeah, if only the safety was on it would have been just fine and within protocol. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

That is for sure and for certain true, however one must remember that Journalists and "special" and should be forgiven for their complete lack of knowledge about everything.

I work as an RSO at a shotgun range and rule number 1 is to NEVER EVER point the barrel at any other human being on the range. BTW, rule #2 is the gun is never loaded until you are standing on a shooting station.

I've stopped counting.
