The DFs may have been adopted.
Some may remember the Darthfuster family recently moved to Eastern Tennessee. Three days after our arrival our kitty passed away. She was old. I doubted she could make the trek but I didn’t have the heart to euthanize her. I just couldn’t do it. She rode in my truck the whole way on the arm rest console pressed against me and head butting my shoulder when she wasn’t passed out. It was a delightful trip with her. She lived a long and privileged life. I didn’t post about it because, well, I don’t know.

Yesterday a stray almost teenager puppy showed up at our house. She’s been on her own for quite a while. No collar nor tags, but she’s well mannered, frightened but friendly. It was early morning so I brought her some water and a bowl of cat food (didn’t get around to tossing the remainder of my kitty’s food). This pup ate like she hadn’t eaten for a week. Anyway, she seems content here. I called animal control to see if anyone had reported a dog of her description missing. No one had. If she sticks around we’ll name her and I’ll build her a place to sleep warm and dry. Better than under the deck where I spotted her.

I find myself cautiously excited. She’s such a loving creature. I miss my kitty terribly so maybe this pup could escort me into old age. I hope. I love the idea of rescuing each other.

Welcome from east TN, Rutledge area. My wife and I help strays around here whenever we can. Good luck with the pup.

Because son, it is what you are supposed to do.

Sigmonkey- is that you?

EDIT: Nevermind. I just realized you did that for Darthfuster.

Beautiful dog, DF! I hope you can keep her!

Thank you, Sigmonkey. Saves me from horsing around with the link. What you see in that image is DF#3 and the pup.

I assume you'll invite her inside as soon as you're sure she won't kill you all while you're asleep?

I have very limited experience with dogs (all good, by the way!) but I suspect she'll socialize better once she's allowed into your home.

I'd love to adopt a Golden Retriever, but we're too old to give one a good home. Congratulations on being adopted by her.

Good for y’all being adopted by that pooch. I’ve been waiting for that to happen to me. I believe when the time is right, it will happen.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat but excited for you to find a new dog. I just recently lost my cat and best buddy of 20 years. It's the first time my wife and I have been petless in 30 years. We're figuring one will find us when the time is right. It looks like it has happened for you.

Good on you for taking it in.

She’s inside tonight. Started raining so I brought her into the basement. She curled up on a blanket I folded for her. She’s a quiet girl but happy to see us when we enter the room. I laid next to her for a while. She let me rub her belly. Sneezed in my face when she rolled back over. I’ll be more prepared for that next time. Lol. I’ll get her some good dog food tomorrow. It seems like she’s going to stay with us. My son took her on a walk with his family this afternoon. He said she stayed close to the kids. I like that instinct if that’s what it is.

Congrats!

Looks to be some sort of collie/shepherd mix possibly. Herding the kids comes with those genes.

She is part of the family now, treat her as such.

Most "rescues" know they're "wanted" and they almost always are the best loving and devoted.

Good for you for having an open heart and including us.

This is the cat I belong to.

He "chose me" when he was a kitten.

His mother was a rescued preggers cat, had two kittens. This one and another that looks like him, but she was orange instead of grey.

Both were "hand raised" by the X-monkey, and when I assisted with fixing a few things around her house, this little kitten, would either sit on my shoe, or crawl all over me while I was under the sink repairing plumbing.

A year later, when I was moving from Florida to Arkansas, my daughter told me I should take him.

At first, I was thinking "I don't need a cat, nor the responsibility, I am old and like my solitude.

Well, here we are, and I really, really like this cat. We talk, he understands, he obeys and is a very good cat. And he is truly affectionate, so I do my best to pay attention when he expresses his needs.

That's wonderful news! Sounds like she was abandoned by somebody and became what I refer to as (and have adopted) a Dumpling. She's obviously doing her best to fit in with your Pack, and I'm praying it all works out.

Sounds like she found you guys...no choice but to keep her now Big Grin! Her coat and coloring reminds me somewhat of my family's dog Sherman...he was a Belgian Turvuren, and a great dog. They were living in Europe and got him after I left for college, so I only got to see him on breaks. He was mostly my younger brother's dog, but he was a really good boy.

Whether she's got Belgian in her or not, there's obviously a lot of other pedigree mixed in there too, which ain't a bad thing...our mutts have always been wonderful and healthy dogs. Cheyenne made it to 17.

Now that you're past the 24 hour threshold and she's slept inside, I think she needs a name Smile.

ETA: Here's a Belgian Turvuren (not ours)

Thank you for posting pics of your pets. I like to read about how you came to be together. My grandchildren named her Jenny. I think it fits. She is a sweetheart for sure.

Nice! Jenny is cute.
She may be a border collie mix of some variety.
She reminds me a bit of my old boy Jake.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
