Thinking of buying a new gas grill...
Anybody have any suggestions? I’d like to keep the price under 1000. It is stored inside so it doesn’t necessarily need to be stainless, and I’d like approximately 500 sq/in of cooking area. Thanks

I actually have a Ducane currently, it's about 15 years old. It still works fine but the one thing I always hated about it is that the temperature across the cooking surface is very uneven. The very back is the hottest part of the grill while the front seems to just get warm.

I realize you’re asking about a grill but I’m loving this Blackstone Griddle so far. I enjoy making eggs, BACON and/or pancakes in the morning on it. In the evening, I can make burgers with BACON Smile

I don’t think Ducane of 15 years ago is the same company as today. I seem to recall them being bought by a crap company years ago. I’d research before buying them. I’d go Weber.

These go to eleven.

Weber Genesis.
After several years of use, I am still enjoying the way this grill cooks.

I just got a 3 burner Genesis from Lowes and had it put on Natural Gas. Wowzers is this thing nice.

Also natural gas is incredible for ease of use, as opposed to swapping out and keeping track of propane.

Weber Genesis.
I've had mine for 8 to 9 years and it works as good today as the day I bought it. Have not had to replace any parts ... except the hose/regulator that a squirrel ate. Put steel braiding around the new one.

Yep, one of the best $300 I've spent was having the gas line opened on my patio so I could connect my Weber Genesis.

My SIL raved about the $250 grill he bought, (think it was a Char Broil) bragging on the price and that it had more cooking surface than my Genesis. After it fell apart in one year he broke down and bought a Weber. He's been happily grill on that for several years now and this has become the one he raves about.

Before I got my three-burner Genesis, I think it is over 20 years old now, I used to buy a new Char-Broil or equivalent POS every year, only to watch it rot to pieces before my eyes. Not very entertaining, to be sure.

The Genesis is still going strong although I had to do a refresh a couple of years back (new grates and flavor bars). Readily available accessories and parts from a variety of sources make it even sweeter.

My next-door neighbor has a Ducane, the stainless is pretty, but the Weber will cook rings around it, and has held up better. Maybe at least partly because the Ducane is exposed to rain and snow, she can't find a cover that fits it and suits her aesthetic.

So I bought a PGS grill back in 98 and it worked great especially at 7400' altitude where generating heat can be a problem. Had it for 5 years and gave it to my F-n-law which he re painted but it still works great. I bought a 3k$ PGS SS,quartz, side burner yada yada yada and hate it. Nothing but flair ups to the point I have a water bottle sitting next to it to douse the flames..Bought a Weber Q2000 that I take camping, guess what I use the most?My next purchase will be a Weber.

I’m in the market too. Very timely thread! I think I’ll go to Home Depot in the morning and get the Genesis. The nexgrill it’s replacing is a rusting hunk of shit. The burner covers have fallen in and it heats very unevenly now.
I’m finally going to own a decent grill for the first time. Thanks guys.
