https://nypost.com/2025/05/24/...nx-and-take-his-gun/ An off-duty NYPD housing cop still in uniform was brutally beaten and robbed of his gun and other items by two masked thugs and left unconscious in the Bronx Saturday, police sources said. The 27-year cop had just ended his shift and was walking to his personal car along St. Peters Avenue in Parkchester around 4:10 a.m. when bandits dressed all in black roughed him up and grabbed his gun belt — with the weapon in it — out of the vehicle. The cop, who was not immediately identified, suffered a fractured eye socket after being kicked in the head while lying on the floor, sources said. ![]() He was taken to a local hospital where he was in stable condition later Saturday. The cop was on the phone with another officer when the thugs approached and pleaded to his attackers, “Don’t shoot me! I’m a cop!” before they took off, a source said. Besides the officer’s gun, the masked bandits took off with his wallet, ID cards and his personal and NYPD-issued phones, sources said. Police are investigating the crime as part of a larger Bronx robbery scheme, sources said. _________________________

Kicked in the head while down. What demographic is famous for that? Looks like the boot sole left an imprint on his face. Theses thugs need to be found and eliminated. I don't care if they could be minors. Time to go medieval on these reprobates.

There was a time in NYC where retribution for something like this would be swift and severe. Today, not so much.

Add shit like this to the looooong list of reasons why NYPD is hemorrhaging officers. They lose 300+ per month, and the rate is increasing., while their hiring rate averages barely 200 per month and that's with their recent lowering of standards. They're already ~3500 officers below their desired staffing, and the gap will continue to widen. Plus, over half of their officers have less than 10 years on the job, with a third having less than 5 years (another major sign of significant turnover). At that rate, NYC is quickly headed back to their squalid and crime-ridden bad old days of the 70s and 80s.

That walk to the car, at that hour, in NYC would have been done with gun in hand. A citizen couldnt do it, but a cop could have. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I'm not familiar, what is Housing referring to in NYPD Housing Police? Does it mean the Projects?

Are NYPD cops allowed to carry off-duty? The way the article reads he was going home, still in uniform, but wasn't wearing his gunbelt? Is that normal procedure there? We have take-home cars so my regular commute certainly looks a little different, but occasionally I've had to go to and from work in my POV and even then I can't imagine a scenario where I'd ever be in uniform outside my house but not wearing a gun. I never even get in that marked car (even off-duty out of uniform) without a gun on me...it's required by policy.

Yes, they can carry off duty. He had reportedly removed his duty belt, with the gun still in the holster of his duty belt. He then tossed it in his car just before he got jumped at his vehicle, and the attackers grabbed it and made off with the whole thing.
