I am a legal immigrant, came here from India. Why most immigrants are Democrats is as has been poited out by my other SigForum friends is because a lot of poorly educated immigrants ( both legal and illegals) can get free stuff. If you are, say, one of the majority of illegal hispanic immigrants, well, nothing could be better than when you hit the jackpot and started getting free stuff from the Government for free. That is why many immigrants favour the Democrats, because they are worthless, POS individuals, who think they can stay on the gravy train if they help Democrats win.

In the early 60's the Democrat party was getting less and less of the vote from the majority white population, so they sponsored (specifically, Teddy Kennedy) the 1965 Immigration Act and LBJ signed it into law. In fact, Kennedy stated that it would not affect the demographics of the country. They knew this to be a lie, and the majority of immigrants from that point onward have come from third world countries and the Democrat party has catered to and promised them "stuff." In fact, at least 57% of all immigrants receive some form of government assistance. Our government imports poverty and expects its citizens to pay for them at the point of a gun.

It's all about demographics for the Democrat party, as at the present rate of immigration the GOP will soon cease to exist. Look at California, once solidly Republican, now lost probably forever. Texas won't be too far down the road.

Also, the population growth, due almost entirely to immigration, will make this country a third world cesspool. Think things are crowded in the cities and highways now? Wait until the population hits 420 million people by 2060. We need a moratorium on immigration like we had for 40 years starting in 1924.

I have met a lot more conservative immigrants than liberal.
