kkinaI may have to try that, but is it really considered freeze-dried? If they have a layer of ice on them, they're not technically dried, more like frozen.

cparktdI had no idea... amazon search turned this up.

kkina^Ah, then the title is correct. That must be sugar, not ice. I stand corrected.

RogueJSKYeah, that's the (now dehydrated) filling spilling out from inside.

1s1kKinda funny but they are all the same flavor. They are colored and given the scent of a certain flavor to fool your senses but they actually all taste the same.

BurtonRWFair warning: they're addictive.
If you just roll them around on your tongue, the internals will melt away like cotton candy, only quite a bit slower - but not as tangy as the normally-hydrated version - leaving the thin halves of the candy outer shell.
Or, you can just crunch on them and get more of a normal skittle flavor, but still a really different texture.
When I was searching for them in bulk (I've only found small bags from a candy vendor at a couple of recent holiday shows), I also ran across instructions for making them yourself. Pretty sure I can cover the cost of a freeze-dryer if I make enough.

Similar in size and shape to M&Ms, but fruit-flavored instead of chocolate.

armedmd$26/pound sounds like a lot but it probably takes 4-5 pounds of skittles to make 1 pound of the freeze dried product. May have to try it.

These weigh nothing. A pound of freeze dried skittles probably lasts you a year!
I ordered 8 ounces and was quite happy for a while

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice.
