Older son passed his Eagle Board of Review. Kid is more computer oriented (currently looking at a Management Info Sys degree) than outdoorsy.
Thanks in advance.

HerknavI’d rather not set one because I’d rather see more ideas.

BeancookerIf he’s into computers and is looking at a career in that field, get him a kick ass windows machine, something like an Alienware or a custom build.
Maybe just tell him that you want to give him a computer as a gift, but since computers of the caliber you’re looking at are a more personalized item, let him pick/build the machine. That would be pretty awesome I think.

SRI may be totally insensitive, we never got gifts for our children for these types of accomplishments (other than lots of attention from mom and dad and perhaps a celebratory dinner at a place where they chose).
If you do get a gift, anything engraved. I got an engraved pocket knife from the scout master and always thought that was pretty cool. Still have it.

maxwayneThe Buck Eagle Scout knife is pretty impressive. I got one for myself and another for a friend who is also an Eagle. You get a fair amount of engraving. I had my dad's name added as he was the Scout Master.

AeteoclesDon't get a computer. Or anything electronic. Goes obsolete too fast.
I would go with a nice pocket knife. Go classic in design. He may not immediately appreciate it, but he will when he gets older.
I'm 36, and the two pocket knives I got as gifts when I made eagle 20 years ago sit right next to my EDC knives. I don't even know where my other gifts are.
In the lower budget range, I would go with a Victorinox Explorer Deluxe. For a little more money, a nicer slipjoint knife from Great Eastern Cutlery. Even more money still, a small fixed blade from Bark River or a hatchet from Gransfors Bruk, Hults Bruk, or Council Tool.
I also think a nice rifle or shotgun would not go amiss.

braillediverSomething that will last and is a tribute to his accomplishment. The computer is disposable and won't be around in 2 years.

Put a nice engraved plate on the base. I just did a search on "eagle statues".

sigarms229My nephew just earned his Eagle and his father gave him a nice custom engraved Case knife.
I would recommend something like that or a top end Leatherman tool.

StarTravelerThe gift I received on making Eagle was a nice double-matted, custom frame for my Eagle Scout certificate. Forty years later, it still looks great and is hanging in my office.
If your son is into firearms, an M1 Garand from the CMP might be something that he can enjoy using and cherishing for its history, as well as being able to someday pass it on to his descendants.
The pocketknife idea is good, too, but I’d be a little concerned about something that size and that sentimental being lost or damaged and the young man regretting using it.
