After asking on this forum and elsewhere, I decided to buy Goodyear DuraTracs for my Tacoma. That was about a year ago and they have been fine, especially for winter driving through snow, etc. Four tires size 245 / 75 R / 16 cost about $800 out the door / after rebate. I did take a long look at Michelins, but after reading reviews on various websites (Discount Tire, Tire Rack, etc.) and the advice given on this forum, I decided to go with the Goodyears. No regrets. ... stirred anti-clockwise.

Most of these tire manufacturers are using softer rubber compounds which does give a softer ride and great traction but at the sacrifice of wear. This whole aspect of tire manufacturing can be traced back to the explorer/firestone deal. Which really hand little if anything to do with tires imho. I will research before I buy as I do not want a tire with the soft rubber performance and wear issues. I know how to safely drive and do not need a tire to compensate for bad driving habits to get a 30k mileage tire which is the norm now. I will give Firestone a good look for sure. But to be honest I do not know who if anyone is making and older style higher mileage tire nowadays. JMTCW "Practice like you want to play in the game"

I had a set of Michelin’s, got 105K out of them. Sold Blazer, still looked good. But went with Yokohama Geolanders AT, excellent tires. Only a few thousand on them but quiet and very good traction. My go to now at a better price.

Another vote for the LTX, my dad has had them on his last few trucks (05 V8 4Runner, '02 Silverado 1500, '08 2500HD) & they are great highway tires with long life. Neither of us do any off road outside of gravel roads on our ranch, so they're plenty sufficient for us. My F150 will be getting a set when it needs new tires. The Enemy's gate is down.
